sold my RS4 and got a C63
a few Q's since you obviously can tell me....
I have always admired and loved the RS4 for it's 6-speed tranny, AWD, and beautiful exhaust note. I know the car is a bit heavy and may not be the fastest car out there but just looks quite solid.
I'm in the used market for an RS4 but recently realized I must get an Auto so the lady can drive the car too....
So now I'm looking at the Lexus IS-F. The C63 is a sweet car but it's too new and out of my price range.
I wanted to hear your honest opinion on your move from the RS-4 to the C63 - do you feel there is anything lacking in the Benz (besides the AWD) that the Audi does better?
Why did you not consider the Lexus IS-F? I drove the car for the first time last weekend and was amazed at it's V-8 exhaust tone and paddle shift 8 speed tranny. The gas mileage is much better than the C63, costs less and will definitely hold resale better IMO given AMG's track record.
Did you consider the new M3 as well?
thanks
rick

Hey Rick,
I chose the C63 because the RS4 didn't have the aggressive edge I wanted, the M3 didn't appeal to me and the IS-F in my opinion is not attractive. The RS4 was great but I live in Manhattan and have had it with shifting...to add...the tranny in the RS is jerky...I've been driving manual for years and never had a car the jerked like the RS did. The Benz doesn't need anything...any mods are just extra credit to the fantastic machine it is. I know a couple of people who bought the IS-F and are having problems with them. I think it always come down to a matter of preference.
no...I have another car for the snow...I don't think even with snow tires it would be any good.
balz, so how many miles now? how fast is it compared to the Audi?
And now that I read your previous posts, I realize how jerky the shifting in the Audi is. I am used to driving it so it doesn't bother me as much, but I notice it now that I'm thinking more of it. And the suspension, I honestly think the suspension is just right for what it is and when it was produced. (Pre-E92 M3 and C63)
That said, I'm still awaiting my GT-R but will be driving the Z06 this weekend if the weather is nice. thanks for your unbiased inputs on the car.
