Every one on the internet keeps taIking about these friggin HEFTY REPAIR BILLS but i have yet to come across an E55 owner that actually had any issues..However,the first 2 years of production ( '03 & '04 ) did have issues but those were resolved in '05 and '06 production years...

I just bought an 04' E55 and I love it. Get a Stg. 2 system for it and the car is a freaking beast for a 4 door sedan

Well, this falls under service, but according to my local dealer's website, changing the spark plugs at 60K miles is $700.

That's why you take it to an independent shop...

Im having trouble understanding the "repair bill nightmares."
I've been reading a lot of posts and it seems that if the car was well taken care and >2004 you might be all right.

I've been looking for airmatic suspension issues and electronic braking problems and superchargers... but cant really put a price on these repairs. I understand that you are buying a car that once cost ~$90k and hence repair bills and maintenance will reflect that price and that part scares me but im not sure if it scares me enough to make me not want to buy this car. On another note it also seems that if you're handy with a wrench you can do basic maintenance (oil, brakes) yourself.

Can anybody enlighten me and give me some $$$ repair\maintenance numbers?

It's a 470 hp, 516 ft/lb torque beast of a sedan...buy it, beat the hell out of it, enjoy it. You will need to pay a bit extra for service (MBZ recommends service every 10,000 miles or so) and if you purchase the warranty you will be covered if something breaks..

Maybe for an '04 but a clean, one-owner, low mileage '05 is worth more than that...

Wow, talk about bringing up an old thread. If its going to be your only car or daily driver i would say no. For 20k there are lots of cars that you can have fun with that would cost less to maintain.
