Great cars, fun to drive, If you find an SL600 and the AMG exterior body styling is not that of importance, there is software available for the engine and the transmission that gives it more power than the 65's and makes it shift like a 65 and usually the 600's are less money than the 65's. Just something to think about. We have software too for the 65's and when both are chipped they have the same amount of power.

Aren't the internals on the 65 a little better? I thought that I remember reading that most of the parts were forged on the 65 as opposed to the 600. Just curious, and not too sure if that would make up for the steep price difference.

Griffin,

I can say if that is true or not, I do know the brakes are bigger, the power is obviously more, and they have the AMG sport exterior package and the NAME ofcourse which make them significantly more.

HAHA definitely an expensive name tag on the tail end of that one. The sl65 depriciation from new is almost scary!

There are Sl65s, S65s, and cl65s up on ebay all the time with 40-50K miles so the engine must be fairly reliable. The rest of it will be fairly standard issue MB. Just means a nice dash of periodic electrical problems

Bellefonte is infamous around these parts
I have never owned a 65, but was enticed enough when I went for a ride in a s65 to do some maintenance research. From what I read, losing a turbo on a 600 or 65 needs the engine pulled. I wouldn’t buy one without a warranty.
