AMG Engine is it a dirty engine?

After just 2 thousand miles my engine oil on my AMG is getting pretty dark. I had my oil/filter changed at 1K miles at the MB dealer, they use Mobile 1 5W40. Now at 3 thousand miles the oil looks like it is getting dark which I understand means it is doing its job but my concern is that on my Lexus the oil stays clean looking for the first 4K+ miles before it even starts to get darker. Are the AMG engines dirtier then other engines? Do you see the samething with your engine?

A guy in our MB club experienced something similar with his C63. Something about the break in period. His used oil, too. I'll have to ask him if it got really dark as well.

Just means that you might be harder on you AMG than your Lexus.

Just speculation, but when you got WOT, your causing increased combusion which creates carbon as a by-product. Carbon is primarily why oil turns black.

too funny... I have 5,000 on my 09 CLS63 and have already added two quarts.

Pretty typical for the 63 motor.

My 07 CLS63 used about a quart every 2500 miles. http://www.mbworld.org/forums/cls55-...-problems.html

From reading alot of other forums posts as well as my own experiance, Mobil 1 and ANY ENGINE WITH FORCED INDUCTION DONT MIX. I dont know the hows or the whys but that is the general concensous across many different cars.

If your MB has TT or a Blower, try switching to Amsoil or Royal Purple, it has solved most peoples problems, including mine.
