CLK Black as a Daily???

6 Speeders,

Would you - could you daily drive (have no other cars) a MB CLK 63 Black Series??? Other than the "i need more room for kids, home depot, etc" answer would there be any good reason not to spend 365 days a year behind the wheel of one of these monsters???

Thanks!!!

IMO it depends on where you live.
Here in Dallas, it's my dd, if I lived in Chicago or NYC, I'd have an additional car.

Well, i am in the Philly area but dont really need another car from my experience. My current car is a Cayman S and that is smaller than the BS...and my previous ride was a 997S and that wanst much more practical yet.

So i guess putting miles on these is ok? daily comfort? parking whereever? No big deal?

I wouldn't.

Too loud, too hard, too stiff, and I'd worry about it all day long. I've owned some cars like than, and they can be great at certain times. Just not all the time.
Guess I 'm just gettin old.

Do it Jon!!!

I love the way the car feels, although the only caution I would have is the snow/salt that you may face in the colder months. As far as comfort, I dont see why not.

I'm looking to pick up a 2004 E55 out here (San Francisco) in the next week or so but obviously not on the level of the BS. I've gotten bit the AMG bug too.

I wouldn't mind using it as a daily, but I know the factory coilovers are not the smoothest out there. That would probably be my only gripe.

It should be fine as a dd. The suspension is not much firmer than a typical 911. As for putting on mileage, the car is pretty bullet-proof.

I have owned my BS for almost 2 years and have put 17k miles on it as a DD in the northeast. I think the car is great as a daily driver and I find it a lot more comfortable ride-wise and interior-wise than the ferrari 550 I owned previously and the 911's I have owned prior to that. Plus it is a lot of fun to drive. The only caveat is that while I do drive it in the winter, I do not use it in the snow.

There's a guy on another board but I forget his name, he uses the Black as a dd but switches to a modded 911TT when it snows.

This car rides better than my 996TT, quieter and corners better too.

I can totally see that. I am thinking of looking into one with like 7-10k miles....they seem to have hit the high 70s/low 80s for nice ones. I would def wait til the spring time as i wouldnt get that car going into the winter here in PA.......or would i ???
