need help for a brake pad..

hey guys, i am a new 2006 slk55 amg owner. and i am in need for a change of brake pad.

i went to the dealer and they quoted my $1500 to change for a new set of brake pads (total rip off i feel).

anyone know what website will be reliable for me to buy from? and what will be a good brand to buy?

I'm finding out that changing pads is not as challenging as I had thought. It might be a DIY job if you have a good jack and some jack stands. Search the SLK world forum for a how-to. www.slkworld.com

As far as pads, change to a more dust-free brand such as Wagner or Porterfield. There are several online sites (just do a search) but you might find Wagner pads available through a local parts store. O'Reily and Advance carry them for Benz.

Benz OEM pads are great, but they are soft and throw off a lot of dust. Clean up is much easier with the right brand of aftermarket pad. Do some research and choose a pad based on your driving style - how you use the car.

Good luck!!

PS: my local independent shop (20+ yrs MB experience) quoted $350 for new pads & sensors for my SL.
