Reliability on a '07-'08 E63

Does anyone here own a '07-'08 E63 that can comment on their reliability? Also, has anyone driven one in the snow? What are some things to look for on a used one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have an 07 with just over 50k miles. We bought it in Jan 2012 with around 40k miles. In these 13 months/10k miles, it's been in the shop twice due to CELs - once because of and evap leak that turned out to be caused by the charcoal filter and then again a couple of weeks later because the intake manifold gasket was worn. When they fixed the charcoal filter they had to replace the gas tank (under warranty) because it had a hole on top. It was between $600 and $700 each time at the dealer. There's also a valve and some other minor things that need replacing that I haven't done yet. The high hp/displacement engine seems to wear out things really fast...it feels like the car burns through gaskets, mounts, oil, gas, etc. in no time.

I'd say make sure you have a good private mechanic. Then buy a car that has a full service history and big ticket items done (i.e tires, brakes, etc...a full brake job with rotors is something like $3k at the dealer). It's obviously gonna be expensive to run, but it's a great car. Even with how much time it's spent in the shop, I'd buy it again if I had to. All I can tell you from experience is that it's not that expensive of a car to buy, but make sure you have enough set aside to maintain and repair it.

As for snow - can't help you there...but from what I've heard, it's ok, but not great. It should be ok in light snow, but it really depends on the tire and your ability. If your winters are harsh and snow is a must for you, look at an Audi. Have a 2007 RS4 as well...almost a complete opposite from the E63, but it's an amazing car.
