Battery and Electrical Gremlins W221 S550
Battery and Electrical Gremlins W221 S550
I just got my 2007 MB S550 back from the body shop. I had an accident a couple weeks ago and needed it repaired. Front end damage, mostly above the bumper.
Since bringing it home I have had a couple of electrical gremlins. The car starts right up, no error messages on the console. Windows, seat settings, steering wheel setting all need to be reset, I think that it is called normalized.
However, when the car is shut off, it is like the car does not have its battery connected. door locks inop, etc.
Also when I turn on the ignition, short of starting the car, nothing works.
The only way to bring everything back is to start the car.
I know the car has a dual battery system, so is this normal if one of the batteries has low voltage or is there something else that could be going on?
Thanks
Mark

Problem Solved
The Accessory battery which is located in the trunk needed to be replaced. It handles all the functions I was having issues with.
The second battery under the hood, which handles the starter function, was 6 years old so I replaced it at the same time.
All issues have been resolved.
