Noob Question on HID Replacments

I've been a fellow 6 Speeder for a while (2003 GT700) but recently picked up a 2006 E55 and would like to upgrade to HIDs. I've read the posts on OEM lights being the best and was wondering if anyone knows:

1. A source for OEM lights

2. How much I should expect to spend to have them installed.

3. Any good sources for these mods and others in the Bay Area.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I think any dealer should be able to do it for around a grand..

Hit up Arling@lucent if you need work done. Click his sponsor link on the right.

I feel your pain, I am in the same boat right now. you can add an aftermarket kit but the dealer will have to reprogram your ECU to recognize them. Otherwise they will flicker.

If they use the same voltage it won't be any problem with them.

My friend just converted his 06 E55 to HID. He was directed to buy the OEM housings and they were switched. This way the ballasts had a mount and the the 'bulb out' indicator won't light up. They were installed and "programmed" by MotorWerks here in Commerce Twp. I can find out where he bought the housings if you like. PM or e-mail me.

Beowulf is infamous around these parts
One of the best sources for oem M-B bi-xenon headlights, as well as a ton of other stuff (things either left off your option list or unavailable in the U.S.) is Steve Krabbenborg aka MBenzNL www.mbenznl.com. You can order direct and make your own installation arrangements - or - Steve makes frequent trips to the U.S. to do installations himself. He gets heavy praise for the quality of his work over on MBWorld. Here's a link from his most recent trip, showing some of his services and pricing: http://www.mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=158063

I've dealt with Steve (Euro impact strips & auto-folding mirrors) and have always been a happy customer. If you see something of interest, shoot him an email and you'll get a prompt response, either directly from Steve or his sister, Wanda.

The dealer pricing is nuts, 1500 per headlight, 400 per transformer. gimmie break. Most wont install anything aftermarket either!

lol... what halogen bulbs does the e55 take?

if it takes h7, go on ebay and get an h7 d2s adapter, d2s bulbs and ballast = $400

can do the same if its a 9006...
