I clicked on this thread out of boredom, I've seen it here for a few weeks and always thought, "Who cares, it's an SLR." They do nothing for me.

Except this one. Just changes the car completely. Wow, incredible!

What is the paint process for such a finish? Is it a base coat / top coat? If starting with a good condition black car, is it just a top coat? I've heard that some achieve the look with a wrap, but I've never seen that in person, so I have no idea how a wrap looks.

Does anyone know what upkeep is involved for such a paint finish? If you polish it, does it get uneven, or do you not polish it? Sounds like a silly question, but if the finish were to get a few swirls or water spots, what do you do? I realize it's a "matte" finish, but I would still assume there is a certain process to keeping the finish looking perfect.

You can't buff it or it'll get shiny/glossy so you have to really take care of it.

Foil wrap... Just saw it on a friend's Ford GT...total cost around $6,000...just a simple wash down, no buffing required.

I would be scared to own that car. One scratch and it seems that you have to redo the whole paint job.
