Concerning the size, should there be some correlation between her rings and the earrings, ie a disproportionately smaller earring or solitaire might look out of place????

I can't remember exactly but I think my wifes wedding ring is 1.4K or close to and its a princess cut.

 

I wouldnt be concerned about that. Although another option would be a pair of princess cut studs to match the cut of her engagement ring. I have these in all sizes.
