That's because for most gamers who want a PS3 (teens and college kids), they will have to work a long time to buy one even with the In N Out generous pay for the age of $9.50 an hour.

Assuming 25% total taxes (CA, Fed, SS, Medicare, CASDI)

$600 for the playstation

8.25% sales tax

$649.5

649.5/0.75 = $866

866/9.5 = 91.15 hours.

Assuming you work 20 hours a week, that's a long time just to be able to afford the console.

And then you need an HDTV with HDMI.

And then you need the $$ for games.

Oh and BTW, it appears that the shortage is over, check here...

A lot of it too, I'm sure, has to do with Blu-Ray most likely not being a supported format in the adult film industry due to costs. Same thing happened with Betamax back in the day. Since it outgrosses the movie industry, it's usually the deciding factor in format wars. Sony thought they had a GRIP on the market with Blu-Ray..... bzzzzzzzt.

No way I would spend that much on a console since I have a 360 already. Negligible difference, and what will soon be proprietary video DVD's? No thanks.

Betamax, Memorystick, Minidisc, Divx... this stuff ringing a bell to anybody?

I've had a hard time finding a store who didn't have a full shelf of these with no interest in them. Now finding a Wii in stock around here, that's still a problem.

the PS3 are priced way too high and competing with the Wii, theres no way they can be neck to neck. But then again, where else can you find a Blu-Ray player for around $600 on the market, as most of them edge close to $1,000.

I'll be waiting later on the year to get my PS3 when some of the good games are released. I'm hoping to get a Wii also.

The problem is that Blu-Ray is not going to be a "lasting" format. The direct comparison for this will be Circuit City with DivX DVD's... dual-format players... etc... it's just not going to work.
