Thumbs down I'm Dissappointed w/ Mid-Atlantic

Guys,

I must say, I am very dissappointed w/ the Mid-Atlantic section of 6speed.....it's been dead guys....we used to have so many folks logging in and communicating, but it's been a few hear and there w/ tumbleweeds.....

What I mean is that the NY Tri State and even Northeast sections here are blowing up with meets, consistent events, etc etc etc, but it seems like we are all scattered......

Gotta come back....losing my mind here at work to close our Q4 Fiscal Year, so this weekend is a no go, but let me tell you, starting in June, I'm going to get this back up again......

Hope we all feel the same.....

Berk

Berk: I'm with you. I'm willing to organize a drive/lunch if we have enough interested. That said - Bull has a Meet & Drive this Sunday and those are always well done. The one we had in Tysons 2 weeks ago was good and well-attended.

If someone want to just lift a few beers - I'm up!

Ok guys, let's start generating some interest by throwing out some ideas for new events (like the cars & coffee meets and runs, etc). Let's represent the strength of our section (we asked for Mid-Atlantic, now let's utilize it).

BTW - I'm still @ work. Hahaha.

Hey B, what I found very useful for groups like this is an annual calendar of events. Over at MACA (our cobra club) we set up an event each month from day one and stuck it on a sticky on the site. Then when people saw in advance when they could plan, we get more attendance. Then the others come up with ideas and next thing you know there are 2-4 events a month after three years in activity as annual events.

We started with a 'business' type of meeting where we all brought ideas, dates, local annual events, national events, etc. to the meeting and we just plotted the dates and then it stuck. After the 2 hour meeting a calendar was made and we went for a cruise to Hooters!!!!!!!!

Here is our sticky. You'll se that when you are as involved as you are, B, you will take initiative. I have three events usually at my own house for the cobra club each year. Mod days with pulley swaps, tuning days, or detail days and crab feasts.

http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...d.php?t=452197

Lets have a brainstorm session to see what events are already planned this summer and go from there.

I am all for meets and drives, but when they are held early in the morning in VA/DC it makes it tough to make. Is there somewhere we could meet near Columbia (mid point?)?

A couple more thoughts for everyone to consider. While MACA founders were more MD based, we tried very hard to spread events throughout the states. As we grew into PA, Del, and VA Beach it got too crazy. If someone from PA wanted a PA meet, you needed to initiate it. Then it could become an anual event.

We also need to consider keeping tabs on one site. Bouncing around different sites can get real confusing when keeping tabs on events. Keep the schedule central, track attendance, and post elsewhere for others to see. This will avoid major confusion of 'which site do I post I will attend?'

Just speaking from experience.

Mid-Atlantic started to get like Off-topic with all of the kids who had migrated to the 6. I think the posts, and the meets (much like 6 speed itself) have gone down in quality. There used to be a monthly meet, usually in Rockville, of porschephiles, who would talk cars, and go for a drive.

I think we need to get back to the quality meets/events, and not try to have the car meet with the most cars. It's just too hard to organize something good with 100+ people.

Berk, I've got a kegerator with Allagash white and Brooklyn Pilsner.....so if it's a brew meet we need....

Scott, Steve and Dave.....guys....great ideas and suggestions. I think a calendar of events is a smart idea. I would like to have a meeting like this where we can all get together and plan out a calendar for the summer at least so people can plan ahead....I'm all for it.....

Steve, definitely setting things up in Columbia, etc, would be fun as well.....It gives us VA and MD folks an oppy to drive up North also......Do you have any suggestions on where to go up there (I'm not too familiar with the area....Scores Perhaps....hahaha j/k), but seriously, set something up with a venue b/c I know Chris (CoHare) and Chris (Tonk) are from up there as well and I'm sure they would like to see that also.......

The kegerator idea is fantastic Dave......Bartender - I'll take a Brooklyn Pilsner please....hahaha.....

I think a couple of autocross events, FATT events, cars & coffee, breakfast brunches (with significant others), drives out to Annapolis, Baltimore (possibly PA - talking with PearlCoupe35 - great guy about maybe driving up to one of their events in the future), etc etc etc would be great......So, how about we maybe get together some time next weekend for a brainstorm session. Get together for some coffee and talk it out......

Just a thought???? Thanks again guys.....Let's bring this back to what it used to be.....
