thanks.
There are quite a few range options in the NoVA area.

BTW, I do not work for any of the ranges listed below.

As mentioned above, in Chantilly, VA there is Blue Ridge Arsenal (http://www.blueridgearsenal.com/). I've shot many times at this facility. The range has 25-30 lanes. Half are dedicated to handgun ammo only and the other half will allow both handgun and rifle ammo. On the weekends, there can be a wait. Annual members get preference. They do have an extensive selection of rental guns, various glock, sig and 1911 variant handguns and some automatic rifles (M16 variants and MP5 sub machine guns). It is a nice range, but starting to get outdated.

A little East but also in Fairfax is the NRA. First class range with a very nice waiting area overlooking the range (leather couches). I was impressed. But later found out why they had such a nice waiting area, the place gets packed!!! The one and only time I went, I left after waiting for 45 minutes.

Further south in Springfield, VA is a range called Gilbert's (http://www.gilbertrange.com/). I've shot many times at this range. If my memory serves me correctly, I recall this range has 15-20 lanes. They only allow handgun ammo, thus I no longer frequent it as much as I used to. The wait times aren't so bad, and prices are fair. They have a few rental weapons. This range is the most outdated of the ones I've mentioned so far.

In Ashburn a new facility has opened called Silver Eagle Group (http://www.silvereagle-group.com/). I've been meaning to try em out. Their webpage has impressive content and they have decent promotional pricing for annual membership.

Needless to say, it's been a while since I've shot. I've been a little reluctant due to the shortage of ammo supply at the stores. I have checked though and the shelves are slowly returning to pre-election levels, but at of course higher prices. It'll be great to go out and shoot again. I have a couple rifles (Piston AR and GSG-5) and a Glock 19 (9mm) handgun. I'm more than happy to let anyone try em out.

So when/where are we doing this?

And great question about the legality of bringing firearms between state lines. Anyone know of the MD and VA state laws?

I just read your post, thanks for the info.

Unfortunately I can't send you a PM YET, since I'm new to the board and don't have the minimum number of posts. But I can receive PMs!

Good point on the hi-cap mags. All I have are hi-cap mags for my weapons, which are legal here in VA. Hopefully we can shoot in VA.

Alan - ok, do you have suggestions.

Mark911 - does the range you suggested at the corner of 50 and 28 accomodate what Alan's requests are?

I'd be in. Blue Ridge does allow rifle calibers, but only on one side of the range.

Great thread JV. Should we just try Blue Ridge Arsenal to start b/c it can accomodate the handguns and rifles? I'm saying September 19th. I haven't been to ranges up here, been in FL, so not sure when the peak hours are. Should we do the morning, then we can all grab some lunch afterwards in Fairfax Town Center if coming from Chantilly?

9AM September 19th???

Sorry to push it out so far, I just want to make sure I can go, and this gives time for people to coordinate, get their ammo if necessary and plan. I have a baby boy on the way due in the next week or so, so I want to give time to attend, not to mention, I have the Midnight Run on Sept 12th.

So, we have the following folks:

1.) Boochook
2.) Cohare
3.) 05AMG
4.) Estoril
5.) DrivenAgain
6.) mark911
7.) JVproM6
8.) curt

Does that date and approximate time work for everyone?
