Where to get Tires balanced?
Where to get Tires balanced?
I need to get my new tires re-balanced. I got them mounted at Mr. Tire but even after several attempts, the vibration is still there, between 60-70mph.
Looking for a recommendation on any competent shop that knows how to balance wheels/tires correctly...
Thank you..

Thank you. Mr Tire has a GSP9700 and they claimed that they road force balanced them but the vibration is there. I dunno if they actually did or not since I was not provided any readings.
Did you say anything to them? Did they repair the wheels for you?
I have a Hunter GSP 9700 ... but I'm not on Tire Rack's list yet although a Tire Rack wholesaler..... working on that. For some reason they have some "shops" on there that don't have ANY tire equipment at all, but they are sticklers for things like Yellow Page listings and other seemingly nonsensical bits of data that are supposed to authenticate one's legitimacy... go figure??
We run into that kind of thing all the time.... these vendor "lists" can be the most misleading things, i.e. look up dealers on Renntech website (excellent Benz tuner), for Maryland there is one listed and it is somebody's basic neighborhood house.... and within that house no registered "business", no business license, no insurance, no lifts, no diagnostic equipment, just some wannabe who has a handful of hand tools and somehow scammed their way into getting the webmaster to "list" them; a real disservice to the consuming public, to real shops who carry the over-heads to provide real legitimate services and moreover the vendor co. cuz most people will see some bs that and loose all faith in the co.'s list and the co. itself.
Anyway, I digress.....Road Force - with force match (positioning tire in most suited place rotational-wise on rim) if needed - is only way to go on troubled vibrations.
The Road Force is the only machine that takes variance in sidewall flex around the tire's circumference into account & can make all the difference in the world. Sidewall flex is definitely not a constant factor around the circumference of a tire on even the best tires, and trying to balance the tire unloaded tells you zero about that variation. Go to the Hunter website if you want more of a PhD-level explanation.

The one and only time I went to Radial my front right tire came off the car! The did not install any of the lugs. Needless to say I was not impressed.
Instead of telling you where not to go, I'm going to tell you who to call.
I have used Tire Van for several years and yes they perform Road Force balancing...in your driveway or office or anywhere you need them to come.

Great service.

When the tires are finished you can barely tell what color the wheels are let alone if there are any new blemishes on them. They are filthy. I didn't bother following up figuring they'd say you needed to show it to them while there. So I never gave them the opportunity to make things right.
Took to currys and they found one of the tires was bad. Called Tirerack and they sent a replacement. Replaced tire and vibration gone.
After all that money and time wasted at Mr. Tire, they never told me about a tire being bad and blamed the vibration on my car.. Fail.

I hate that - instead of doing some thinking they blame the car or the owner. Tires do end up with problems from time to time. Sometimes the tires can work fine on one car but on another car make it pull to one side.
Happened to me with a new set of Michelins once. Car kept pulling, they did an alignment and said it was my car. I insisted it wasn't and agreed to go get another alignment, I would pay if it turned out to be my car and they agreed to pay if it wasn't. Had the alignment checked at another shop as but the car still pulled to the right and they said it wasn't the car. Finally the tire store manager called Michelin and was told that on some cars these particular tires would cause the car to pull.
Never heard of this before but a service manager at Mitsubishi had. Ended up purchasing BF Goodrich tires and the pull was gone. Strange. I never did get a technical explanation, I don't understand what the issue was.
