Something new?
The current car does not really give me any thrills outside of Launch Control and even that is starting to get old. The PDK, while great technology, just didn't quite belong on a car like this IMO. My 997.1T was way more fun to drive.
Time to think of alternatives...
Suggestions anyone? The GT2RS, while it will probably give me more thrills than the Turbo S, the looks really do nothing for me now. For $250K I think there should be lots of options...

Alex - Got some questions for you:
1.) ARE YOU CRAZY??? HAHAHAA....J/K
2.) What are you looking to spend?
3.) Will this be an occassional weekend car, or will you try to use it at track events also?
4.) Are you going to modify it after OEM?
I would lean you towards the Carrera GT. They've dropped below $300K in some instances. Subscribed at least to see what you get next. G/L bud. I'm sure it'll be a great choice.

I've seen your car at Cars/Coffee...nice car.
If around $250K is your price range, in my opinion, the BEST overall exotic car out there right now is the LP560. Got a chance to drive one (with E-Gear) last week (thanks to the generous owner) after Cars/Coffee and it was insane!
Wayyyyy faster than pre-LP560 Gallardos...not even close.
And the stock exhaust on the 560 sounds perfect...nice and aggressive, but not obnoxious...sounds perfect and exactly how an exotic should sound. I don't think you need any aftermarket exhaust on it.
In a straight line, probably not as fast as your Turbo S, but take one drive in the 560 and you won't be able to get it out of your mind.
The only caveat is that it is extremely difficult to get a 6 speed manual 560 if that is what you want...a bit easier to get a 6 speed in earlier Gallardos.
The car is so fast yet driveable and comfortable at the same time. And with the Lamborghini lines/looks, too...a true rolling piece of art.

Have you driven one? And if so have you really driven driven one?? It is like a highend motorcyle, you can forget what gear your in and it really doesn't matter, it pulls like a race horse thru all gears all rpms.
A CGT is a street legal LeMans GT1 car, designed as a GT1 racer from the get go, whole project shelved to free up capital for Cayenne design and build and later un-shelved to make street super car. The money in design work and materials on CGTs was far beyond their new selling price, i.e. on the whole all inputs considered was a money loser for Porsche b/c it is so much car. Tell me where you find a V10 race engineered motor (a Porsche motor nonetheless built ground up just for that car), full carbon monocoque chassis and engine cradle, push-rod activated longitudinally mounted dampners, full carbon body, floating rotor carbon composit brakes, center lock wheels / hub assembly... and on and on and on.
Any street car Lamborghini, or Ferrari (maybe excepting F40), or super Vette or whatever are like crude kids' toys compared to a CGT.
I personally know pretty big time pro drivers (i.e. Randy Pobst to name one) who say that car is way beyond anything else they have ever driven, and that includes a list of factory built race cars probably hundreds long. I also know several CGT owners who have stables of exotic sports cars of all kinds you can think of, 430 Scuds, Enzo, LP560s, Black series Benzs, Ford GTs, 700+ hp supercharged Vipers... you name it.... and they all say nothing comes anywhere close to thier CGT.
Forget 1/4 mi. times, forget that in some spec.s a 2011 997 turbo and multiple other current cars out perform it on paper... a CGT is one serious serious car, nothing like it will ever be built again, you will own a peice of history, and lap times with a real driver.... you'd need to get up into the likes of a McLaren F1 or Benz CLK-GTR or Prosche GT1 to come anywhere close.
They are super mileage sensitive on price, but if you want a driver who cares about miles... the car was engineered to run ***** to the wall with pro-drivers pounding on it for 24 hours straight. They do need periodic servicing as any car does but they are built stout with a capital S.
If serious potential buyer ever wants to see one up close and MAYBE get to drive one let me know. I know where there are 6 or so w/in 150 mi.s. I have one client who has had 5!! I think only 600 came to states, 1.2k total.
We should start a pool whenever you get a new toy, to see how long it will take you to get bored with it. JK
If you are thinking about something fun to drive and exotic but, without all of the attention well, I don't think that car exists. At least in my mind. Just keep in mind that your toy is only a weekend car for you so, who cares if it maybe a bit loud. I think you need to reconsider the CGT as an option.
Just my .02

Request: Can you get one of those CGT owners to bring their car to the Great Falls Cars/Coffee event on Saturdays? If an F40 can show up almost every single Saturday there, then a CGT should be there, too!
I had one I was brokering for about 6 weeks about 1.5 yr.s ago and drove it all over god's creation. I had it at the DC Auto Show not last yr. but yr. before, silver with ascot brown interior. It has a multi-disc basket type clutch and discs & flywheel are only about 6" diameter so it is lurchy and quirky from stop but once you get rolling the driveline winds up super quick and just keeps on going. You could drive it all day and not get bored & if you turn traction control off it flashes a big red warning sign on dash like "are you sure you want to do that?" and then it is out of control, it will smoke the tires pretty much anytime any gear if you step on it... and I think they are 335s!! It has a radio but it is purposefully put out of arms reach when strapped in b/c you really do need to pay attention to what you are doing.
I've been trying. There is one lives right in Derwood / Rockville and he has almost come with me couple times but he goes out of town a lot on short notice. I know not this weekend but hopefully next.

Awesome. Beastly! I have yet to see one in the flesh, so would love to see one live (and hear it, too!).
If the Rockville area car is a silver one, I met the owner's brother. Was at the Hamburger Hamlet parking lot checking the oil level in my Gallardo and the brother walked up to me randomly to ask about the car....then I find out his brother owns a silver CGT and I'm like DAMN, get that car to Cars/Coffee ASAP!
Turbo S Cab is sold...I'm not sad one bit actually.
Got my allocation for the GT2RS, need to submit order by tomorrow along with 10% down (strange).
Got a copy of a letter that Porsche sent out to the dealers RE the GT2RS. OCT-DEC build, and all US GT2RS will be launched exactly the same day on FEB11 2011 at the Porsche Performance track in AL. That's more than 6 months away...WTF!!!!
I wouldn't wait on anything that long let alone a car. Don't know why Porsche doesn't just give us customers the cars as they're built. Shortly after delivery of the GT2RS the new 998 will come out. Then the GT2RS is $267K to boot. I don't know if it's worth the money nor the wait.
The CGT's are still running in the mid 300s from what I can see for a low mileage 2005. I finally have a the garage space and don't know what to get....argggggg

there are far more cars out there that out perform it at a similar price point.
