Wheel repair/refinishing in DC/MD/VA
Just spoke with Brian, and Yep it is my old class mate. I am going to have him take look at wheels and see what he can do this week, will let you know how it turns out.
fallonautomotive has a nice service and fantastic specials check here http://www.fallonautomotive.com/specials.htm
Add Ye Ole Wheel shop (MD) to the list of area wheel repair places. I've used them a couple times and their prices are reasonable. The only drawback is that they are notorious for taking a while to turn around repairs.
A repair place without a waiting list is probably a poor one. I'd much rather WAIT - as long as they keep to a timetable - than get something back fast and crummy. For stuff like this, repairs can be close to artwork.
^^^ the only drawback to that is that of you need to drive the car fairly regularly or if you need it to be ready by an event deadline... I agree on the don't rush my wheel job mentality but waiting forever for car stuff to get done really sucks, especially of your car is not operable during the time, or on jack stands or sitting and waiting to be attended to, same goes for wheels and other projects...next thing you know summer is over and you haven't been able to enjoy your car...
I have been using Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists for the past 3 years with flawless results. These are the guys that visit the dealerships and do wheel repair on dealer site. Their pricing is more than fair and their work impeccable.
I used YOWS years ago - but waiting a month (or more) for wheel repair is ridiculous.

Guys, another person is Joe Dale at Alloy Wheel Repair... Tell him Paul sent you.. he's known me for years and has refurbed and straightened 5 or 6 sets of wheels for my past Audi.. I keep in touch with him and he'll hook anyone up

If you've not chosen a shop yet, I have used and had great success with Wheels Onsite (or perhaps it's Onsite Wheels)... but they are a travel service. So they don't do paint work that I know of (but I could be wrong there...) Anyways, I had THREE of my CCW rims on the S4 get screwed up in a weeks time... Polished lips. They came out to my work in Alexandria, charged me $150 per wheel (flat rate for any type of repair) and they looked as good as new! I thought I had the business card here at home, but it must be at work... I'll post up the info tomorrow when I get into the office.
They have my vote though...

You are correct, they do a good job.
They do paint work, you just have to talk to Brian and I think you have to bring it into their shop. I had a friend with gloss black DPEs scuff them up and they refinished/repainted his wheel. They do a good job and my friend was pleased with their work.
^^ I spoke w Brian Dean recently and yes he is focusing on Wheels Onsite now, looks like he has shifted his business practice to solely wheels onsite...
They come out and repair wheels on the car, I don't even think they break the bead of the tire or remove the wheel from the car...I don't know if they even jack up the car in that case?
Appartenly they have a machine/sytem that can take care of the wheel right on the car itelf...pretty cool...
mdyaman any more intel or info on how the system works?

Basically you call and arrange an appointment time. You can either bring your car to them, but most prefer for their mobile service to come to either your home, or place of business. When they arrive, they jack up one corner of your car to raise the affected wheel area and have special tools, machine to refinish your wheel. Also yes, they don't take off your wheel at all.
For more serious work, you can bring your rim to thier repair shop. This is what my friend did with the gloss black DPEs that he needed repainted and refinished. It was a three piece set which they took apart, did what they had to to to fix it, and voila, good as new.
Can't go wrong w/ Brian Dean's services.
Here is a before and after pics with Brian Deans WheelsOnSite services with the DPE wheels I mentioned.
