I've had front jammers on both may cars for about a year, but beyond jamming some speed cameras and red light cameras (for those in the opposite lane, of course) they haven't saved me. One day..

Also, I have mine programmed to jam for about 6 or so seconds and then turn off. This way I should have time to slow down and, hopefully, give the po' po' the impression there was just a glitch, not a jam.

Bell STI -

I have been right next to and behind cops (I have tint on top of my windshield).... with my STI

They cant pick me up because of the thick gauge magnesium shielding of the Bell, no leakage at all... it is great (and made for) VA.

Cops can still nail you on laser tho, however the STI picks up scatter pretty good on the car in front of you.
The sti, 9500ci and 9500xi are the only 3 detectors that can NOT be picked up by va state police. This was told to me by a va state cop. A v1 can be picked up over 1/4 mile away per the cop

I love my V1, but after a State tracked me down from the opposite side of the Dulles Toll Rd, I will not rely on it anymore... The State boys are now using Spectra IV radar detector detectors...

Well I know I feel safer in traffic due to the illegality of radar detectors and heavy enforcement while parked on 66.

Bell STI

Get the Bell.... I roll through VA all the time and have never had an issue... I am on 77 most of the time... It has payed for itself more than once...

Bell STI driver and I also have the Passport SC55 attached to it. You can link them. This gives GPS enabled data to the Bell. It's a great set up. You can tag locations that give false alerts and it also indicates speed you are traveling when tagged. Money well spent..

If I was in your situation I'd invest in the K40 Calibre system. I have had a few of them on different cars and it is completely steath. No LEO will be able to see it at all.

The only "stealth" radar detectors are the Beltronics STi Driver (windshield mount) STiR+ (installed remote mount), Escort Redline (windshield mount, basically the same radar detector as the STi Driver, but better performance), Escort 9500 CI (the 9500IX is not stealth). The 9500CI is almost the same as the STiR+, but the the STiR+ is better due to it's ability for the user to adjust the settings. The reason these radar detectors are stealth has nothing to do with the magnesium case, but the antenna (horn) design, the electronics and software in the units.

The K40 is not stealth.

There are a couple of posts on Amazon from back in January and February from a user who says the STI is now detectable. Is that accurate? Perhaps it's a cop trying to create some fear. I don't know. What I do know is that I almost got nailed this morning by some goofy cop who was facing rush hour traffic going UP Blue Ridge Mtn. WTH?

The STi is detectable if the Spectre radar detector detector is within 3 feet of it.

Sti

Look guys this is how stupid I am, last weekend I park my convert Viper in front of Bloom returning a movie to RedBox, a cop pulls up RIGHT NEXT to me as i'm getting in, and my radar is blaring (and my radio) he yells to me to move my car. How he does not SEE my Bell STI sitting in the widow I'll never understand, anyway it was totally stealth to him

I believe in the STI

Traffic cops aren't the brightest. I wouldn't be too shocked.
