Fair Lakes, 09/23/12

I was pretty busy today, since we organized a 'Lotus and Lotus-Related' event, in conjunction with the regular Cars & Coffee. Sorry - I only got a couple of pictures of cars in the general population.

The last three pictures show the 4 participants in our 'Lotus-Related' class. Lotus designed the engine on the original ZR-1, and did chassis/suspension work on the current GTR. Yes, that is Chris Cowan's new GTR.

(I did get permission from the ZR-1 owners to show their licenses.)

Fair Lakes, 09/23/12 - Part 2

We had 30 Lotus in attendance, likely the largest group of Lotus most people will ever see. The normal Elises & Exiges were joined by rarer Evoras, Esprits, and Sevens. We even had an Elan and a Europa, as well as a rare Essex Esprit.

I suspect we'll do this again in the Spring. I don't know that we will ever have better weather.

A big day for muscle cars, old & new, as well as hot rods.

Is this C&C still going on? This coming Sunday?

Or is it now too cold for this?

The only reasons for no Cars & Coffee are:

1.) It's actively raining.
2.) There's significant snow on the ground.

Note that, if the previous week was rained or snowed out, it's less likely that either rain or snow will keep everyone away.

In looking at my pictures from Fair Lakes this year, I only see 'washout Sundays' about 5 times, in the period of 1/1 thru the end of April.

That shows you what a mild winter we had, but car folks get 'cabin fever' after missing their Cars & Coffee! Here's a picture from February 2011 - check out the snow bank beyond the cars!

Fair Lakes, 10/21/12

I was out of town the last two Sundays, but very happy to be back this weekend. Plenty of folks showed up on the cool, clear morning. It warmed up nicely, and we had a terrific day. I brought the '07 Jaguar XK Coupe we picked up Friday night.
