^^^ at $1,000 it's going to be more take, out of your pocket... I think your estimate for a reasonable coilover setup, plus install (even if fraggle does it for free) + alignment is very low. My recommendation is to save a bit more and get a better setup, do it once and do it right. You don't want to cut corners on things like suspension, tires, wheels etc...you are riding on these parts, literally. You get what you pay for bro, just don't wanna see ya make mistakes and have to pay more at the end of the day to correct them...trying to give honest advice as your friend.

Per corner or the set? The suspension on my 928 was $2500...

Unless you have tracking aspirations, I really don't see the need for a complete coil over setup. A perfect spring compression for aggressive street duty is all you need. Once you go the coilover route you will be looking for a second set of tires. Autocross, whatever. Looks like you've been bit by the mod bug. Enjoy.

Hence why I said give or take. I'll go up to $1,500 if need be. That's only for the coilovers, I'll obviously spend more on the alignment. I've read lots of good reviews on the FKs and BC Racing so I'm going with either one of those.

I don't have tracking aspirations, just street use. I just don't want to get suspension components piece by piece, I'd rather get it all together. And I'm just doing it for the looks more than the performance.

Agreed. And the stock suspension on that car is pretty damn good. You'd have to be a hell of a driver to surpass the capalities of the stock set-up. That said if anywhere near 80-100k mi.s you're prob about due for shocks. The OEM replacement should be a quality Sachs. Just get some quality higher rate lowering springs and OEM shocks and all the goodies, bump stop foam, needle bearings etc. that go with them and a real alignment with some good fairly aggressive spec.s & you'll be good to go.... still be over $1k but maybe kinda close.

$1k for coilovers = mission impossible, unless u find something used in a crackhouse or something. And coilovers are really for ability to adjust height by corner and thus corner balance - and also most premium dampners just come that way. And you prob. don't need to be able to corner balance doing what it sounds like you're doing with the car. Ask Sunir, he'd tell you (even if completely naively) that a corner balance is a totally worthless waste of money if you were driving a IMSA GT3 Cup at Nurburgring (ok I'm not going there), but even I will opine that on a M3 like that unless you're really advanced in your skills and doing some serious tracking / driving you don't need a corner balance... hence don't need coilovers.

Put it another way. If you were even remotely considering putting wheels from a 2-ton 7 series full size luxury sedan on your M3..... you don't need coilovers.... yet anyway. LOL

Tonk,
I just finished installing my TCKline D/A with camber plates up front, so far no complaints, but I still need to get it aligned and corner balanced. Install wasn't bad at all, but its mainly because its a coil over setup. If you are doing springs and shocks, that is where it takes some time.

If you decide to piece everything together, springs and shocks, let me know. You can have my Tein S-TECH springs for dirt cheap or trade for some photo shoot time ..... All you would need then is the shocks. I have the spring compressor tool if you need to borrow it.

Nandska is infamous around these parts
Tonk,

If you have/help Fraggle with the coilovers, you can always head over to PTuning in Manassas for an alignment.

On a side note, aren't you suppose to let the coilovers/springs settle before taking it get an alignment?

I had that thought too but I was told that's only the case with springs only, not coilovers.

On a side note...I ordered the coilovers tonight

Some settling will be required regaurdless of install. No big deal, we'll take it around the block or something. PTuning can align or by friends at Piedmont. I'll make a phone call once we set a date, or walk over to the guys I need to talk too.
