OBD-II scan tool

Anyone near Burke, VA with an OBD-II scan tool, and a familiarity with VA emissions inspections, that would mind scanning an Ariel Atom?

Alternatively, can anyone recommend a good scan tool to purchase at a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance.

I have a setup for my laptop, it was $100 or so. Works great for the generic ODB2 stuff.

I'm not all that familiar with VA inspections though. I'm not really sure what they'd look for on your car. For most ODB2 equipped vehicles they just plug them in - no check engine light, you passed.

buy this for 26 bucks... then...

download app for 4 bucks, to a bluetooth enable smart device, tablet, or pc, I am running Torque Pro on a Samsung 7 in tablet in my car, and I also have it on my Pantech 4G smart phone. The custom gauges and real time feeds are more than a joy to have.

yes it checks faults and codes, it does, g meter, 60 -120, 0-60, 1/4 all sorts of stuff native in OBDII

enjoy

do it all yourself... for about 40 with shipping. :-)

I've never seen anything like this, but it looks cool as hell.

I got one through Amazon. Will get it in two days (love Prime!) and will see how it works.

Turns out there are a ton of these devices on the market. The common denominator is that they all use an Elm327 chipset. I figure there would be relatively difference between the different models (they all look equally cheaply constructed) so I ordered one of the cheaper ones by Soliport. Only about $17.

Thanks for the info.

NP!

Yes even though I have a base profile for the G35, I have used it on all our cars, plus a friends. So the Elm327 chipset is standard. You can play with the chipset too and get some other goodies out of a device, but im done with ironing liquid metal. I left that sort of stuff with the Air Force went I got out in 2000, lol.

Enjoy man, I love mine and I make folks who spent $2500 on gauge REALLY upset. Hell I pad $750 for the two (air fuel and Boost) located in my center console ashtray!
