Depends if he had full coverage or not. Full coverage on a sport bike is pretty expensive because it's so common for them to get stolen. So if he didn't have full coverage, then he's SOL.
My roommate in college had his R6 stolen in the middle of the night. A couple guys picked it up and put it in their van. All caught on video by a security camera but couldn't read the license plate. Police said most likely its engine was on its way to a drag racing bike and would be in a dumpster in less than a month. It's sad that people do this kinda thing

Had my RC51 stolen in '01. Got it back two months later. Unfortunately there was no corpse next to it.
You don't need full coverage, just comp to cover theft. Then if you wreck it, it's your dime, but if someone else does, you are set.

Bikes are way to easily stolen... Never realized it until we had to put a buddies r6 in a u-hall for a move and it only took two of us to pick it up....

That's why mine lives in my garage and when its on the road I drive it so fast no one has a chance to realize what it is, haha.
I came out once to a few guys picking up one of my bikes behind a truck in Fells Point .... in the middle of the day on Fleet Street. I was about to take my helmet off and crack someone in the head until I realized the guys backed their work truck up thus knocking my bike over and they were picking it up. Guy felt horrible .... then I told him how much the bike cost. That didn't help ... he thought he was going to get fired. $15 Grand later and 4 months I got my bike back. No cost to me ... Lucky!
