While driving in Fairfax recently a funny moment happened.

I was making a left turn and as it straightened out I passed by a couple jogging on the sidewalk. Dude gave me a thumbs up as I rolled by (he must have seen my car when they jogged through the intersection).

I looked in my rear view mirror at that moment to catch the old guy behind me riding my *** and flashing his brights at me...I still have no idea why he was so mad, since we were basically both sitting at the same exact left turn light waiting for it to turn green, and it's not like I took forever to go when it did turn green...

This scenario still supports my belief that ~50% of car attention you get in Northern VA is negative.

 

Depends a lot on the car, too. The vast, vast majority of attention I get is positive. But last week I did have a guy riding my *** on 28S during evening stop-and-go rush hour, in the rain. I mean, he was so close that I braced for impact more than once.

 

Scary, that's when I find a way to get the hell away from them.

BTW, Telum, as in Mexico?

 

Latin for "spear" - used it when I first got my first email account 15+ years ago (I was taking Latin classes in high school at the time) and it stuck around for my screen name ever since. Still use that Hotmail address for random internet things haha
