Mods on Pepper R53 - Which way to go?
my advice, fwiw.....formulate a plan and do some homework before spending $$$ and bolting on parts. first, define how the car will primarily be used. many people would hate my car as a daily driver, but it comes alive at the track. the way to make a MINI fast on the track is though suspension and brakes. the big three (15% pulley, CAI, and cat-back) will give one the biggest gains/$ on the motor side. a custom tune is the next biggest bang for the buck. going further w/ the power levels will cost over 10k to get significant, usable results.
no disrepect intended to adam, but the hottest engine performance mods for the R53 are coming out of RMW in socal. http://www.revolutionmini.com/contacts.html
ECU tuning, heads, headers, rotrex superchargers, 2.0l strokers......much development being done w/ good early success.
engine swaps generally aren't worth the time/money invested in this car. anything can be done, but at what cost/gain.
