with my Smart Fortwo out of the way, I'm hot on the market for a Mini S. My original plan was to get a 6-speed, but I read somewhere that the Auto is actually faster and that the paddle shifters work really well.

Anyone have feedback about this?

 

Go & drive both, & decide.

I didn't feel the auto was faster at all, but if you live in stop&go traffic it might be the way to go. The 6sp is super easy to shift, & geared well.

 

Mini's aren't really fast cars (relatively speaking) but they are fun. I think 6 speed is a must to enhance the driving experience. It's a very easy gearbox too.

 

I've kinda been thinking the same thing. With all the traffic driving I do I told myself I'd never get another manual trans.

But, like you say, the Mini is pretty much in a category of its own.

6-speed it is then.
