The Mini Cooper is a total piece of ****. 7 months old and it already requires $1900 of repair conveniently not covered by warranty or so they say.

What a fool I was.

Post your stories here about how ****ty this car is; others need to be warned.

there is a website that is all Mini and contains a common problems & fixes section for most all of the years and models. You can also find more comprehensive and objective information about dealing with dealer & warranty issues as well. I would recommend that everyone that owns a mini or is thinking about getting one visit www.northamericanmotoring.com

2004 Mini Cooper S just crossed over the 100k mile mark and so far a new clutch which cost $2200. About 5k miles ago I put in a new turbo (found one off of a wrecked mini) also around $2k. Up until the 90k nothing major.

Mini cooper S 2003 Manual gearbox

Hello to everyone, I own a 2003 mini cooper S and everything on it works just fine, but from time to time when I rev in 1st or 2nd gear to the limit the check engine sign comes on, the revs go down to 2000 even with the throttle fully down to the metal. As soon as I stop the engine and start it again everything goes back to normal apart from the check engine, it remains on for another 10 minutes and then turns off. Anyone else has or had the same problem??? Please reply. Thanks in advance

I have a 2008 Mini Cooper that was serviced religiously at my Mini Dealer. The Plastic housing surrounding the thermostat failed and they are now telling me that the engine needs to be replaced. The Part is on back order from Germany for an unknown period of time. They started at $10,000 to replace the engine, and now they are down to $8,900. The housing is back ordered for 3-4 weeks and it appears to be a design issue. Anyone else have this issue?
