Hi all. James here, a Brit living in the DC suburbs.
Had this car a month and been on Rennlist a bit, thought I'd better come over here and say hello.
I really should not be allowed to idly browse Craigslist. Because when I do, things happen. Like finding a beautiful 911 Millennium Edition and buying it. OK, so I'd been slightly looking for a couple of weeks; I'd recently sold my beautiful '74 Charger and '76 F-150 and decided that a 996 was going to replace them. So when I found this one, locally, well maintained and for a great price, I figured it must be fate.
Since then I've been taking every excuse to drive it, and can't quite wipe the grin off my face. I've fixed a couple of small things that needed fixing, sent some of the wood trim off to be repaired, but I'm not planning on too many mods - this is going to be my daily driver in all but the worst weather.
I have to say it's good to be back in a Porsche again. There's nothing like them. I had a '66 912 a couple of decades ago which I miss terribly. Despite the generational difference, the 996 definitely feels related somehow.
