chain tensioner ims-crank chain
chain tensioner ims-crank chain
Hello all,
I have done an IMS bearing upgrade on my 2000 Porsche 996 Carrera 4. I used the LN instructions and locked the cam and removed chain tensioners. Now that I did this, it seems that the IMS-Crank chain tensioner is rather 'soggy' or soft. The 1-2-3 cam chain tensioner is stiff (not locked up but about as I would expect).
Is there a specification for the force to depress the chain tensioner? How should it feel if it is full of oil? I suppose it is easy enough just to replace but I would like to have some idea if this tensioner is bad before replacing.
Finally, any thoughts on the new tensioner vs. the old at this position? (Seems the old is unavailable anyway).
Thanks,
TAM
