Haltech GT-R Runs 11.1@124 !
Just wait, just wait... GTR always was a drag car...

Aucklander Reece McGregor has set a world quarter-mile (400m) sprint record for all-wheel-drive cars. McGregor launched his r32 Nissan Skyline off the line at Queensland's Willowbank Raceway and was clocked at 7.57 seconds and 190mph (307km/h). Earlier he had recorded 7.59 seconds over the distance. McGregor's best time in New Zealand is 7.81 seconds and 177mph (287km/h). The 1992 Skyline is powered by a turbocharged straight-six engine .fastest awd car in the world, hks is slower by .5 sec
Reece has spent about $250 000 on this beast.so they say.
*it currently produces 1600-1700hp at 38psi.
*it uses a heavily modded gt45r turbo(secret specs)
*its a very heavily modified rb26 but is using a very loosely based
hks 2.8 stroker setup with some top secret f1 technology to keep the
head stuck down.they would not tell me what it was.
*it used methanol fuel
*carbon fibre rear driveshafts/stock front ones
*dry ice coler
*it can be free revved and make 40psi of boost so lag is not an issue Surprised
*it makes its full 38psi at 6000rpm......
*in the space of 5000-6000rpm the engine produces an extra 1250hp!!!!!!!
*it currently uses a redline of 9800rpm to run its hi 190mph runs,on
its 7.59 run last week it was on the 9300rpm limiter for 50m or
more.so they turned it up for more mph.
this block made 1560hp for 3 years and had nothin wrong with it
internally ,had 4 thou of gudgeon pin distortion and was other wise
brand new.new gudgeons and it was new again.
also makes 1700 with its current block and has done for a year now
with no internal wear at all.
they certainly know how to build a motor.
it could make over 2000hp but they cant use the power at all, so its
not worth continuing development with more power,1700 is still too
hard to get down currently as it is they reckon.....as most would have
seen the 400m of black lines on its 7.57 run.
Show me any Porsche who can do that like this old GTR...

im personally not surprised by any of this. anyone familiar with the older GTRs knows just how potent they can be when given some TLC. watch this youtube video of an R32 destroying a TVR after the TVR owned pretty much every super car at the time in a straightline race shown on the video too.

the issue i have is people championing a car thats not even out in the wild yet based purely on speculation and released vids and specs. the old GTRs were lightening but as comparable to a porsche 911 in terms of drive as a mini was to a range rover. faster yes, anything like the same experience no. id have lumped them in with subarus, evos and m3s in terms of feel and application.
ive driven an R35 and find it the same. unbelievably quick yes, anything like my 911 no even though it would spank it in a head to head. no matter how quick it goes round the ring, no matter how fast it gets to 100mph this wont ever change. the experience in each is vastly different and which you prefer will dictate which you buy in most cases.
my own thoughts are that the R35 is going to seriously hit M3 sales rather than those of the 911. they are a similar purpose and flavour of car imho and i cant see anyone in their right mind who would pick a BMW over that nissan.

After years and years and years of development and the best they could do is a 7.5sec? Pretty pathetic if you ask me.
The R35 is even worse with its not so tough transmission.
7.5sec for an AWD car = pretty pathetic ?
Ok, here is another example:
http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/43...lock-rb26.html
Now show me any car in the world with similar engine displacement ant with absolutely stock internals can go 7,57 sec quarter mile??? And this is 25 years old technologies. And after that you still say that the new GTR has weak engine, gearbox, etc...

And here is a totally standard bottom end, full weight (about 3600 pounds) R34 GTR doing 0-186 mph in less than 20 seconds.

So what 0-186 mph time is doing Porche Carrera GT?

Plenty of 7 sec cars around the world, many with less modifications and far less boost than the GTR.
With the amount of turbo development on the GTR it should have gove less than that by now. So far not many GTR's have gone under 8 sec as compared with other cars.
Porsches are different, they are more classy.
Theres even several street legal cars like the corvette and other American muscle running around.

but how many of them Are AWD and faster? More like ... 0 ?

uhh ok kiddo... how many 7sec AWD drag cars did you build to make a statement like that?
because those 'other cars' Are RWD.
...
whatever that has to do with anything.

So, where is everyone going with this argument? I thought we were talking about the NEW GT-R? I mean, a modified older Skyline is badass, no doubt... but this thread has gone SO far off topic it's discouraging to even try to answer this much stupidity.
Modify at your own risk, the GTR doesnt have the strongest of gearboxes.

Ok.. update..
I spoke to my importer and they told me its under warranty if i send it back to Japan but i have to revert it back to standard..
He has already sent another GT-R back last month with a electrical issues and it was resolved by Nissan..
His source in Japan said faults been hushed by Nissan Japan so it does not affect global sales.
So.. I suppose i have no choice.. Its either send it back, wait a few months and it costs me $0 or bite the bullet and buy the box for 15k and get it sorted within weeks..
I am going to demand a free reverse camera and a free service at a HPC..

Update..
Ben GTC put me on to a guy who was going to come out to Thailand from Japan and diagnose the problem..
I just got the email that confirmed it is in fact BLOWN..
He explained to Nissan about the 1st, 3rd, 5th changes and they are aware of the some early vins cars having this problem and they are willing to fix it for FREE even though i took it out of Japan..
Good news... They will fix it for free Thank god!!!
Bad news.. Back on a boat and god knows how long it will be gone..
So... there it is..
Not a software problem, Its a major hardware problem that Nissan knew of and tried to hush it..
I am happy that they will replace it but it could be gone for months.
As testrage stated... **** HAPPENS
I appreciate the help Ben...

First;900411Mines coming in next week and its 293x. Would it be a defective car as well? I hope not. Could anyone confirm this? I had a chance to test drove it at another continent ports before shipment and hasn't notice anything on that day. Just a very annoying check "!" light whenever I leave either of the door open while the car is started.
mattbnz;876890I have a grey import GTR that has a gearbox fault showing on the dash, the car has gone into limp mode, Nissan NZ will not plug the consult III into it, is there another way to view the fault codes?, We are looking at getting a service computer from Japan to sort out some of the issues these cars are coming up with here in NZ as the local agents have been told not to touch them. Will any other service computer work on them?

Hi Guys..
All this talk of the gearbox being weak is ****ing justified
I took off from the lights in 1st and changed to 2nd gear around 5,500 rpm and the usual "clunk" and then it just revved out..
Then the car threw some warnings and it just limps in 1st now.. If i try to take off in 2nd... nothing, just like neutral..
So now i know i am screwed, I am going to buy a new box and sell this piece of ****...
I am in shock, i only got the car back to Phuket today and drove it for about 30 mins in moderate traffic..
What the hell to do?
Where can a source a new box?
http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/95345-r3...ox-fault-3.html
I just found another guy with the same deal... Mine is build number 395
