My R34
hm..... What does it say on the registration? Customized car? I could register it in Nevada and not california too so kinda need to know what the car is registered as and maybe research to see if I can do the same thing in either of the states.
it just says nissan, thats it. I've had no problems with it at all. Had it at a police station and a U.S. customs place north of where I live.

the rb engine was around for many years before nismo released their z tune. even then, wasn't it around 500hp? the vr38 has been around for almost 2 years and people are already over 800hp. the nismo version (or the production stage 2 model with overboost) is already over 500hp, with just a small increase in boost.
i don't think nissan is going to take a step back in technology. i think there is some serious untapped potential in this platform.
and in my opinion, the r34 is a nice tuner (with an amazing non-functional aerodynamic design, read: boxy) car with amazing tuning potential if your pockets are deep. but production for production, there is no comparison between the r34 skyline gt-r and the r35 gt-r.
that being said, the r34 will always be the forbidden fruit.
i'm not too sure about this...

Your missing a lot of the RB history there man. Yeah, stock RB26s only were rated at around 280hp to fit within the guidelines on Japans gentlemens agreement in regards to HP. They put down way more then that in reality. A friend of mine (well used to be friends, hes a dbag now) with an RB in his 240 put down over 400whp at 6000ft in altitude with just a tune and tbe. People have been running RB motors with over 1000hp for a long time now.
stock vs stock - the r35 runs circles around any gt-r before it, i don't think that is disputable. i had quite the 180 when i was in japan as well, running some serious hp, and many friends of mine had a ton of power in there skyline gt-r's as well. all i was saying is that it didn't happen in 1990 (2 years after the engine came out). and here we are not even 2 years into production (practically just 18months) and we've got 700 - 800hp gt-r's from hennessey and switzer acheiving speeds over 190mph fairly quickly, and i'm not sure how many 'streetable' previous gens were capable of that, while maintaining balance and control.
i only mentioned the nismo platform because they released the z-tune, and they were the driving force behind the new additions to the r35 spec-v, so it seemed easy to compare the two.
the r34 will forever be an icon because of it's rare status, sharp lines, and awesome performance. no denying that. and i imagine this car is just waiting for the right buyer to see it.
blue gt = na
oh i'm not disputing the strength of the rb platform... and i'm well aware of the power ratings...

To the poster though, I have a friend who is really considering an R34. I sent him the thread.
