Nah, it's funny even you own a GT-R.

I disagree. The R34 is inferior in every way - by a lot.

I have never owned an R34 but I have owned an R35. The R34 transmission is by far superior to the R35 transmission. The RB26DETT is proven to handle 1000bhp in completely unmodified form, according to conservative estimates. The verdict is still out on the R35 drivetrain.

R35 is cool....but R34 looks sooooooo much better!
you can't compare their performance, too much time between them.

Hmmmm.... Already 800whp+ R35's exist. I'm not sure what you mean by superior?

You're going to guage an R34 based on the 1000bhp limit of a transmission?

One would think that if somebody is going to spend that kind of money to get 1000bhp out of an RB, that perhaps somebody would spend $2k for a clutch upgrade in their GR6 for the R35.

So the stock transmission can handle 1000bhp.

What was your reasoning for the R34 being superior again?

*edit: Show me a stock R34 do anything close to what a stock R35 can do in any category, and I'll be surprised.

I agree with this...

I enjoy the 'tuner' style look of a modified Skyline into the Skyline GT-R (much like the 3-Series BMW into the M3). But now that I've enjoyed the R35 for a year now, I've come to appreciate the fact that Nissan finally realized that a modified G35/37 won't be able to support the performance characteristics of their intentions.

I'm glad Nissan did what they did, and not just do a 'tuner' version of the G35/37.

Completely stock RB26DETT drivetrains with single turbo upgrades are driving around reliably all over the world with 800+whp and a clutch upgrade. The R35 you mention is the Garage Saurus - the first and only known car to do this on a roller in Japan somewhere. I'd like to see some real world data and a few thousand miles before I'm convinced of the R35 drivetrain.

Yes, I used to own a few legacy Skylines myself. And I lived in Japan for a few years (where I learned about said platform), and I've seen quite a few boosted platforms.

Clutch upgrade? Not stock.

Compare apples to apples.

These R34's you mention have been around for over a decade. And the engine platform has been around for about twice that. The R35 has only been released for two years (one in America). I'm sure that you'll see that it will be a performance monster (if it hasn't been proven yet).
