Forged Performance: GTR Track Prep Upgrades

We wanted to share with you some terrific upgrades we are making to a customer's track bound GT-R. This particular GT-R was already heavily modified when it arrived and included a Switzer P800 Turbo Kit and JRZ RS Pro Coilovers. Because the customer lives in Florida and tracks quite frequently in some of the hottest environments in the country he looked to Forged's track proven expertise and guidance in making his GT-R run cool and strong throughout the hot summer months. The cooling system of the GT-R is unique, in that many different systems are interrelated so it's not just a matter of bolting on traditional cooling mods but you must also look at the big picture with respect to how all of these parts work together and the sources of all of this heat. It's often not as obvious as you would think.

With this goal in mind we are adding:

-Forged Performance Sway Bar Set and racing end links
-Willall Racing Front Differential Cooler
-Willall Racing Rear Differential Cooler
-HKS Transmission Cooler
-HKS Intercooler Kit With Carbon Ducting
-OS Giken Rear Diff
-Forged Performance Spec Road Race ECU Calibration

Very shortly we'll be adding fluids and should be ready for final quality checks and dyno tuning!

Do you recommend diff coolers for an occasional track car?
I can see the need to add a DCT cooler, that is one that should have from the factory.

No imho. Get the HKS tranny cooler and then change the diff fluids every 3rd/4th track weekend with good quality fluid, like the Motul or Willall products, and you'll be fine. Especially change the front diff often as it only holds 0.7 litres of oil and the diffs do run hot.

Is the HKS DCT the one to get over the GReddy DCT?

Both are of excellent quality but I like the design of the HKS unit slightly better as it does not isolate the water radiator from the system when the transmission gets hot. Just remember to get the HKS replacement windshield water reservoir added to the install. It allows more air to flow thru' the transmission cooler core.

Bish pretty much summed both of these up. The diff coolers are probably overkill if you're just doing an occasional track day here and there. If the cars sees consistent track duty and you are seeing elevated temps then it's not a bad idea to do the coolers.

The HKS DCT cooler is one of the nicest coolers available and always our first choice for these cars. If you have any further questions please let us know.
