Me either.... showdown Alpine and 280 tonight? I'll turn off the jammer.....

Am I correct in believing that most LEO's do not use (or cant) laser or radar at night?? I always thought this was the case but drove past what I *believe* was a CHP using radar the other night....

Appreciate all the inside info. Good to see some car enthusiast LEO's out there.

 

There is nothing preventing use of Lidar/Radar at night. Remember on surface streets 22350 CVC (Basic Speed) applies. You may be able to justify that your speed was safe for conditions. On the freeway, 22349 CVC is what usually is cited. That section says that you can't exceed the posted limit. So if you are going 66 mph on 280 you are still guilty. Most officers won't cite for less than 10mph over, but it is possible. If you want to stay out of trouble on 280, stay out of the fast lane, don't tailgate, and make sure that someone else is going faster than you. Also, don't make numerous lane changes and ALWAYS use your signal. For some reason, I seem to stop a lot of BMW drivers that don't like to signal. I don't understand it. Basically, don't bring attention to yourself.

 

there was a cop w/ his radar on last night (11:30pm or so) sitting on the look-out point going north.

turn signals are an extra option on most BMWs and people usually dont get them.

 

so i got pulled over last night and told the officer i am from 6speedonline. he had the most puzzled look on his face.

haha... just kidding. that would have been funny though. not sure confusing an officer is a good idea to get out of a ticket though
