Buying porsche feom out of state dealer

Hi guys, I'm pulling trigger on a 2017 911 that's in Texas. Has anyone bought from an out of state dealer before? Does it require a smog check and a trip to the DMV? Etc.

Texas doesn't matter...any vehicle brought into California from another state will have to pass the smog ****'s before you can register it...check CA DMV.gov for all the requirements...don't take the dealers word for it....a lot of new vehicles are only 49 state legal...you can check the vehicle info tag to see if 50 state legal...then your only problem will be passing the visual and smog

Check the website because rules for a new car (2017) are slightly different...I believe they have specific requirements for new out of state vehicles....if it is a 50 state legal car you may not have to smog it until 2022...good luck but I believe they will try to stick you for sales tax difference

Not sure about smog, but CA DMV will definitely make you pay the sales tax based on purchase price for your zipcode. They call is 'use' tax. You obviously won't be paying sale tax in TX.

When I moved back to CA, the DMV tried to get me pay the difference between IL tax and CA tax after I had already owned the truck in IL for almost 2 yrs! I lied about how much I paid to get them off my back. They are criminals!
