and now for a few more words... (if you just care about pics, link is at the bottom)

We met at the Bridgetown Mill House Inn in Langhorne; after signing in and giving copies of insurance and drivers license, we started off with a lunch that was freshly prepared and was delicious. After about a 20 minute briefing on what to do if something goes wrong...and what not to do so nothing does, we went outside for about a half hour picture taking session. Before heading out, we were handed the rotation so we could see when we would be driving each car.

The cars, in order of my rotation...
Ferrari 599
Mercedez SLR
Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera
Ford GT
Corvette Callaway C16
Maserati GranTurismo

There were 6 cars and 10 drivers, we each had 4 shifts in the passenger seat. For me the passenger seat worked out great, there are many things that you really get to enjoy, that you just can't when you are responsible for a $500k car. Also, everyone except for me and 1 other guy had brought a passenger; a few brought their son's, some their wives (?), and one even brought his mom. Because of the way the rotations worked out, we basically got to ride shotgun for each other...we enjoyed each others company immensly and also acted as each others devil on the shoulder prodding each other into the sin these cars offer.

...the sin...

That's really what stood out the most about this event. Somehow...someway...this company has figured out how to actually let you tear it up, more on that in a minute.

When I got in the ferrari for my first shift behind the wheel I was both excited and nervous. But more curious...was I going to be sitting in the car and stearing, or driving this ****ing thing the way it was made to be driven? The ferrari came with an instructor (the only car other than the lead and chase that had staff in it), he briefed me on the car and off we went. Into a few turns, I got a bit daring, then peered out of the corner of my eye to see if he was pissed...nope...nothin...ok push it harder...nothing...ok, finally I ask, is it cool if i hit that turn up ahead. His response told me what the next 5 hours would be..."go for it".

For the next half hour he told me when to slow down so i could have space to take a turn full throttle, he never once seemed nervous. He did add, that he doesn't elt everyone do this, but that he felt comfortable that I could handle the car. He also made sure to mention that someone had rolled a GT3 not long ago (a healthy dose of fear is always good behind a supercar).

Without going into detail of ever car, I will say that by far...by far...the lambo was my favorite. The sound that thing makes is, as one of the sons of a driver put it, more like a sportsbike than a car. When Pete (devil on my shoulder) found the sport button and I down shifted, we both let out first a grunt as the car slammed into 2nd, then squeeled like kids finding their first **** stash. The fun we had in that lambo I will remember for the rest of my life.

Everytime we stopped crowds gathered, after one particularly aggressive rotation we pulled into a gas station and after the crowds started a cop pulled in. Having just had moments that could possibly put us behind bars, all we could do was laugh.

Actually, there was alot of laughing at every stop, and it was mostly due to the amazing experience the staff provided for us. The end of every rotation had it's own moment of "did I really just do that?" The roads they chose in their route provided a never ending barrage of high performance opportunities. The lead car was a crown victoria and the woman that drove it clearly has magical powers. She was able to go fast enough in it that we could all tear it up in these monsters, and yet somehow...someway...in 5 hours of driving...not one cop other than the one at the gas station. I was told that she had a laptop and a Valentine in the car...I think it was somehow modded to keep the cops away, instead of detecting them.

When we got back, there was appetisers and plenty of car talk. They gave us some nice parting gifts and we all took the opportunity to thank our hosts. If any of the hosts or instructors are reading this, thank you again.

As a quick footnote, the ride home from something like this can be odd...suddenly I'm on the turnpike by myself and with no cars that I'm "not allowed to pass." All I'm saying is a quick thanks to the guy in the black G6 that helped me come down from my high at 110 mph and thank you lord for the magical powers holding up and the cops not finding me then either.

I have my own pictures so if any of you wanna see more of any particular car let me know, but they take pictures for you throughout the event and provided a link themselves...

Seems like you had an insane time Keith!! I think I'm going to have to do this event sometime in the future. You're the second person I know that's done this event and obviously both had nothing but spectacular experiences.

What were your impressions of the Gran Turismo?? Obviously it's a beautiful car, but how'd it drive? How about the 599??

The Mas was the last car that I drove and I was kind of glad. After feeling the lambo, the GT, the SLR and the 599 it really felt like more of a casual cruiser. The paddle shifters were very much for show, the power was available but underwhelming (relatively) but the interior was pretty dam nice, and it's hot lookin overall. The 599 was absolute refined perfection. A realy amazing ride. It got overshadowed by my ride in the lambo though, I wish there was a 430 there to have compared the lambo too as the 599 really has different intentions than the superlight gallardo. The whole experience kicked ***, i can't reccomend it enough.

Due in part to the nice shine you put on the S5, it got alot of looks from the other drivers and their passengers. As I was getting in to leave, a passerby at the resteraunt asked if it was my car or part of the car club .

I hear ya on the Maserati, they've released a beefed up version to combat the casual cruiser persona. Displacement was bumped to 4.7L's with close to 440 horses, I believe. Can't wait to drive one.

I've heard great things about the 599, glad you enjoyed it. I wish for your driving pleasure they had a F430 Scuderia there to compare to the Lambo. I have a feeling the 430 would've taken the cake as your favorite ride. If I could only get my hands on one!

Getting looks already huh??? Wait till we get done the real detail!! People will be paying you to drive your car around. Could even start your own club...
