After reading that. It's very upsetting.

Who tries to prophet from a true tragedy? I mean really. The dudes knew and understood the possible consequences before they got on the track. That should be the end of it.

search the GT forum for "Ben Keaton" -- Porsche Corp ended up settling out of court for 8 million I think... one of several parties involved in the lawsuit...

sad story all around...

That's insane!

If I were the Porsche corp, I'd tell them to go kick rocks. how could they have possibly been held liable for that?

Dude liked Porsche enough to drop half a million on one of their cars, I think it's safe to say that there's few places he would have rather been than behind the wheel of a carrera GT doing what it does best.

I just can't wait for an excuse to put my R-Compounds on! I've never driven with them before.

i am sure you will enjoy the tires. I am waiting for my skill to improve a bit more (maybe by the end of this season), before I put them on the Lotus. The limit is a bit more abrupt on R-compounds than with my Yoko's. And this car is much faster than my current capabilities.

On the CGT note, I too think it is sad the lawsuits went everywhere. I had a talk with my wife about this very issue. When I go on the track I understand that I might hurt myself (and others). I told her that if I do hurt myself, she better think very deeply before deciding to take my friends to court after I die.

With that in mind, I hope she can make the right decision. Whatever that may be.

I think you need to re-write your will to ensure she makes the right decision =)

and yeah, the R-Comps are definitely overkill for my first season, I'm not sure if I'll use them, but I got a deal that I could not refuse on them.

Accually, if you show up as a novice with "R" tires, you will be stifled most of the day. This is condition that scares most instructors.

Bleu, doesn't the Lotus come stock with "R" rubber?

Alfa days are the best of the other clubs (PCA,BMW, etc) because of less people but also a little less organized.

Kitch won't let you on the track alone until you have proved to his intructors you can handle your car.

No days on the track are a waste of time. If you choose to spend some $ on lapping then get as many days in as possible.

Yes no more passengers, and it sucks. I love scaring people in my car.

You will get 100% more out of a Proformance day then any other club event........

The Keating thing is a disaster for all track enthusiests HOPEFULLY one day people will learn to take responsibility for their own actions and suck it up when the f#^k it up.

As is usually the case 75% of SuperCar owners are members of the more money then brains club and this is also truly a trajedy.

Mitch all I can say about all of your soon to be track days.
A) Take it easy and slow speed comes with patience ONLY
B) Take it easy and slow speed comes with patience ONLY
C) Take it easy and slow speed comes with patience ONLY

I guess that's three things.

I'm in NO hurry to wreck my car, but deep down inside, I'd love to be able to at least read PJ's badging on his car after a lap some day =P

No, but very close.

Yoko AO48 is the stock tire. they are AA A 60. The Hoosiers R6 is AA A 40.

How was the Alfa Day

I meant to jump on this thread before the driving day (which was yesterday). Did you go? I didn't see any red M3s there. I was there and had a fantastic time. Granted it's "just" the basic school, but I learned a lot. I took that class a few yers ago and wanted a refresher since I have a different car now.

I'll be at the lapping class in March too. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, no track time is a waste. Hope to see you out there!
