Not really because I'm taking those driving schools at Barber Motorsport Park and Laguna Seca. Way more fun!

Greta, be sure to get both insurance coverages at the PSDS.

If I recall correctly the Don Kitch contact is The Laurel Group

I got a quote:

80K car
30 track days
$3500 per year
$12000 deductible (not $1200 -- no typo)

This coverage to me means that if you are going to wreck, go all the way... do $15K worth of damage and the ins co pays for $3k of it.. BS...

Needless to say I did not buy it.

they used to offer 10 and 20 day packages, but they cancelled them and now only offer the 30 day... the irony is that most people going to the track 30 times per year "self insure"

if you go to the DE days and drive within your limits, the risk is pretty low...

It is far more about the tecnical dissection of the track and consistent driving than it is about being on the "edge" of totalling your car...

Thanks for that tip Jason. I already signed up for some additional coverage, but don't recall the details (I think it reduced the deductible from $10 to 2k?). I will make sure I check into this. GREAT to see you today - there was some good tips after you left, but probably nothing you don't already know. See you again soon I hope.

Yes, it is the Laurel Group. The quote I got was $2500 for 23 days per year - it was awhile ago. I did not purchase it either. Very expensive and your insurance company will still be notified if you file a claim.

A little OT, but that is interesting there is apparently a "Laurel Group" that offers insurance. I work for a "Laurel Group" (www.laurel-group.com) but we do executive recruiting. What a coinkydink.

Since most of your cars are your 2, 3rd, or like Ben the 15th.
Get specialty coverage, or collectors insurance.

I had Hagerty insurance on the M3, $35k agreed on value, $0 deductible, & it was $500 a YEAR. They covered the track, if it was not timed & was for "learning"

Interesting. That sounds like a good plan. I have never used a specialty insurance place, but I assume that they would cover the drive to the track?

Thanks!

I looked into that at one time since I have a DD, but with the mileage restrictions and if they catch you driving a collector car for daily needs, apparently that can be a problem if you make a claim. I am worn out fighting insurance companies. Seems like this is a great business opportunity with the rising increase is automotive sporting events, etc.

Hey Stealth - it was a pleasure to meet you today! You seem to really know your stuff when it comes to Porsches!

You can get different policies. My only restriction was it could not be driven to work, & that every person in the house needed a dedicated car. I had no milage restrictions.

Yes, it was nice to meet you & of course see Jason & jody.
