Speaking of which.., and sorry to post on this thread. But anyone know of a roofer, my rental needs a new roof and the bid I got was insane. I'll check out servicemagic next, but was wondering if anyone had a good/cheap referral.

Thanks,
Bojan

Try A Roofing Company, they were pretty reasonable when we used them in the past. They're up north too.

Word of mouth is powerful. I have a friend who does landscape design. His business took off when he did Dave Matthews' house. Now he is known as "the guy who did Dave Matthew's landscaping" and he is by referral only. If you can, remodel a local celebrity's house for a huge discount and get approval to promote your work with them. It'll go far, especially if you do a stellar job. They will in turn refer their friends. Best of luck.

If you know any local celebs, I'd love to do it! Our work is already better priced than anyone around, and our quality is top notch. So far all of our custom homes we're building were referrals. Anyways, great ideas from everyone. I do know that word of mouth can be best, but I need to diversify & try other forms of advertisement as well.
