What is the better buy?

Due to an offer I could not refuse on my 4runner I am now looking at new vehicles. Here is what I am thinking and the offers I have so far. Any advise would be appreciated, I've been driving an SUV for awhile so don't know too much about the two cars.

2009 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro Premium Plus
MSRP: $37,000 My Price: $35,874 (don't know invoice)
3yr/30K
MF: .0009
$500mo w/$1,000 cash

2008 Lexus IS250 AWD
$41,100 MSRP / $36,400 Invoice / My Price #32,200
3yr/36K
MF: .00295
$498mo w/$1000 cash

The Audi is a new body style and the IS 250 came out since 2006 ! It is very likely a new body style of the IS will come out before the end of your lease ! They are both great cars and since they are about the same on monthly payment, you can't go wrong with either one ! Keep in mind it is a 2009 v.s. 2008 and although the price on the Audi is higher than the Lexus, but the MF is much lower, and it also depends on are you going to keep the car at the end of your lease !

I would go with the Audi. The 2.0t is a great engine, and as mentioned before the 09 is the latest body style, and you'll be getting those cool signature led lights :) I think the fit, finish, and quality of both these cars is excellent so I think it just boils down to which body style you prefer.

I don't know if you are into modifying at all, but the A4 has always had great potential, and I think this new B8 is no different. There is some decent power to be had from the 2.0T with just an ECU tune, let alone some of the turbo upgrades available to it. A nice drop and some decent 19" wheels would really look good on the B8. The Audi/VW crowd in the NW is pretty active too, so there are plenty of people to meet up with and a number of shops that specialize in these cars. Anyhow, this is all assuming you don't plan to keep your car stock haha.

If you're really concerned about a better buy I'd recommend looking at buying a car that is 2-3 years old. I bought my A4 Quattro with the V6 engine about 5 years ago, and it still feels rock solid. I bought it when it was a couple years old and saved a ton off of the new price.

To your original question, I'd say the Audi, but that's based on my having a positive experience as an owner.

I personally would get the A3. In Matte Black, Its so cool looking and has more rear space Than the sedan,

agreed, but I love the Audi bodystyle better, and it has more power to it from the 2.0T, I drove the 2007 A4 which I believe they still have the same engine till now and I drove an IS250 awd back then, I was more satisfied with the a4's power. Interior-wise its to each to his own, I never check out the new model's interior but if its compared to the 07, I would prefer the IS250's interior. Good luck!

I had a A4 w/ the 6cyl in it, and if I were to do it again I would most definitely go w/ the 2.0T engine. Its just a funner engine.. wasn't at all impressed w/ the 6cyl and you'll save money! You can chip the turbo engine as well and make it much more entertaining than the 6 cyl. But as others mentioned, get a used model if your looking for the "best" deal.

I would be leasing, atleast for the first 3 years, so no modding. Being forced to look at a new car after having someone offer a lot of money for my previous car.

Your input has been very helpful. The only thing turning me off from Audi is the back and forth of the internet sales department...which is extremely rare. They know I headed up the internet sales department at the dealership right next door.

I think the Audi looks better. I think the Lexus drives better. I think the Audi is more sporty overall but that little IS by Lexus felt nice. I think the Audi fits the car community better more people to hang with etc. Lexus seems to be more of a female car imho. I've never owned a Audi but their new designs a very very nice.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy used right now over the new ones. The new ones are going to tank and if what you mentioned above is a Lease you will be kicking yourself in 12 months when you are paying 500 month for a car that's not worth 350 month.

Used cars today are well taken care of in general and a typical audi or lexus owner doesn't beat the crap out of their cars. So buy used hook up a nice 300 payment and send me the 200 extra a month so i can buy a couple more bottles of wine for my cellar. Last night a group drank through 14 bottles of my good stuff ;)

LOL... I think my answer of AUDI is easily anticipated.

LMK if you get it! :D

I'd go with the Audi. Mainly because I prefer the German looks and engineering. Plus the 2.0t responds very well to mods should you decide to start modding. You can at least get it chipped which is easily reversible if you need to take it into the dealer for anything.
