Hi folks,

I was curious if anyone here happens to know anything about the white Cayman S that's at Park Place. I'm going to go check it out tomorrow and if I'm armed with any good information, it could help to leverage a good deal. Sorry for the very late request for info... hopefully someone who does have some information might be surfing 6speed at 10pm on a Friday night.

Let me also take this chance to introduce myself. I'm not a doctor, nor fake to be one with bad grammar. My name is Mike and live in the south sound. I'm a computer software nerd at a computer hardware company, which makes no sense at all. My experience with sports cars has been limited to the S2000 and riding/driving my friend's 911TT's and M3's. I'm turning 30 in a handful of days, which suddenly sparked my shopping for a P-car (it's been a goal of mine to own a Porsche before I turned 30... however lame that sounds!! ) and the Cayman S is within grasp.

I got pointed here by two of my very close friends who said the NW 6-speed crew is a collection of wealthy people, who are very very nice and really share a passion for cars... so I've been surfing anonymously and dropping posts here and there.

Anyways, if anyone can share any information on the white Cayman S @ Park Place, I'd be extremely grateful!!!

Don't know anything about it, but it looks like a great buy. I'm sure you can talk them down from the 50k asking price. They have a black one that's listed for $45k. I was actually eye-ing that Cayman S today online... was going to walk across the street and check it out but was busy.

There are some good deals on 996tt’s out there as well, and for the same price! My money would go that direction.

 

I liked the looks of the black one as well, until I noticed it was an automatic.

 

I've visited that site before, makes me very reluctant to inch anywhere near that place...

996tt's in the lower to mid 40s?

 

Ones in the low 50’s can be talked down to the 40’s right now. Ones beginning in the 40’s are higher mileage. The Cayman is an amazing car, I just think it is more of a slower comfy daily driver kind of car. It is just to soft to feel out in stock form. You would probably end up getting board with it pretty quick and end up doing exhaust and suspension (which it really needs). A turbo of any generation is an amazing car stock, once again it could probably use some suspension to get a better feel, but you start out with a hell of a lot more power. Porsche kills me with their marketing of the Cayman, and its lack of power in a car that could handle a lot more! I don’t know what you want to do with the car though so this is just me here. The one thing I know is you would be better off dealing with a private party then with those guys. A family member of mine got a year old Cayman new from the dealer for about the same price as that one at PP ltd. I looked at the dealers holding lot and there were countless Caymans sitting there. It’s a buyers market so take advantage of it. Also don’t settle on a car just because it’s a few K cheaper then one that really gets your heart pounding. I personally don’t mind finding a good used car thought because depreciation is killer.

50K for a Cayman S? Yikes. You could get an 05 C2 or maybe even a C2S for that kind of $$$ these days.

I agree, $50k for an '07 Cayman S is over priced. I tried to contact them over the weekend to get some more information on the car but no one wanted to call me back. I think I'm going to pass on this car and continue my search elsewhere. Thanks everyone for your insight/input.

I agree with everything Wade says about the Cayman. I love mine, its a great car, but it doesn't have impressive power. It handles extremely well. I prefer the mid engine, but it could take more power. I've put a suspension, plenum and software in mine and it needed these things. I'll do an exhaust eventually, too. It's a lot of fun. You should be able to find great deals on one.

 

40k will get you Bruce's car. Can't beat that at all!

 

$60k will get you my car.

Sure. That would make the perfect dad car for me.

If it's the same size as an Exige inside, I would have a hell of a time getting in and out of it.

 

Thanks everyone for their input. I found one at Barrier that is all but mine. It has the PSE, which seemed like it droned on the highway. Agreed, it's definitely not the most powerful car... and its not as attractive as a 911, but it fits me for the time being. I fell in love w/ the engine noise behind the drive, the exhaust note, and the driving feel of the car. That said, I refused to test drive a 997 because I was afraid I'd like it more, and that's not good when the car is priced outside of my self-imposed budget.

It is definitely leaps and bounds better than my previous sports car (S2000) in every category (well, almost...).
