Bimmerfest 2009: Aftermath
Send me a PM for those pictures. Not sure which ones you want.
JT, terrific photos (as usual) and account of the trip. I thought about going down myself this year but couldn't make it work. Would love to join you guys next year if you go. So what happened to Larry? Sounds ominous.
He circled around that road a couple times (there are fields on either side) so I knew I had to grab a picture of him doing that right over Steve's head. Did you notice that it appears like he flew RIGHT into the power cables on the right but when I looked at the full resolution image, I can see that there's grey tube on the power tower where the cables goes downwards on the ground then upwards on the other power tower beyond. Whew....that would have really been a disaster if he did go through those cables.

First, you all must know that Jason takes many of his pictures while he is driving AND text messaging at speed. It can be somewhat disconcerting having him behind me taking pictures and text messaging several conversations at the same time. But, he somehow manages.
My little incident was an unplanned test of the V-1 and the Escort 9500ci against the CHP radar. Even with ceramic brakes you can't slow down fast enough when Smoky pops out of the bushes. Officer Davis was very courteous and was nice enough to give me his autograph on a piece of yellow paper he had handy. Oh, well it's part of the cost of touring. I suspect President Obama's stimulus payment to us senior citizens will cover it.

I should point out that however earnest Larry's concerns are, I do not text message/take pictures while driving hard when the going gets wild. So, rest assured folks, you're safe while I'm around and captured in pictures.
Nothing funny about it! That is one serious road with twisties and hoop-de-doo's. Quite easy to get airborne on some of the jumps. I'd have to say it makes Laguna Seca seem pretty tame by comparison. The day we drove this road there was lots of wildlife (deer, bear, cayote) wandering near the road to keep us on our toes.
