Our first ever sports car track day at Pacific Grand Prix on July 7 was a great success, so we're doing it again. We've reserved the track again, this time for the day of Tuesday, July 21. We need to get people signed up and start collecting money so we can pay the rest of the track rental fee. We're all sharing the track rental equally, 25 ways, about $100 each.

This is a casual for-fun sports car drive around the new Pacific Grand Prix full-course circuit as seen in my videos. That's right, we're driving our Elises and NSXes and Boxsters around a giant, freshly paved go-kart track. 2nd gear all the way around (maybe 3rd in a couple of spots) and it's a blast.

This is not a race or competition of any kind, and since it's a fairly tight track (built for motorcycles and go-karts) we will not allow any passing. We'll only run a few cars (3-5) at a time in groups of similar speed and space them out so there won't be any traffic jams. We expect well over an hour of track time for each driver throughout the course of the day. We'll all take turns on flag and radio duty to keep things under control ... this is a grownups only thing, no hotdoggers or drifters please.

I believe we can also pay cash at the track as well as long as we email you so you can add us to the list?

Sooooo I am quite inexperienced in the world of turning will there be any instruction and or is this just not a good event for me?

 

So...I convinced my wife 'Jojo' to come out in her slk on the 21st. She will be driving with the novice group, thanks. I will be driving same car.

Oo yes! beginners are mostly welcome. This is the best way to enter the sport. Because there is no passing = less pressure for most of us including me :-) There are experienced drivers that will ride w/you and give you instructions(per your request). i will hook you up w/Rick(formula atlantic driver). Basically, relax and have lots of fun!

 

Time?
I'll probably come hang out and watch (with the camera of course), but participating I won't be able to do this time around.
Lots of golf and Karting coming up in the next few days....

 

Thanks! I am going to see if I can get out of work now. I already am taking vacation starting that Friday so they might not be a fan but we shall see.

It's all about the fun! Come on out! I started autox 2.5 years ago with no experience and I was hooked! After that, I got my GT3 seats and harnesses in, etc. You'll be hooked! Come and play ! You'll love it!
James! It'll be fun to have you out there! Even if you can't participate, you can probably ride with people. I'll always be happy to take you for a spin and so will Todd!
