Sounds like fun. June and August work for me. Doing a family vacation in Europe the entire month of July, so I'm out if it's in July.

Can bring anything that is needed.

Cool. So I added a poll and will go off of that to determine a month. I talked to Jason and how does Sammamish Park sound? I have never been there but he makes it sound like it will work with parking and a decent sized group. Do they have grills there?

The park does have grills and also a couple of covered picnic pavilions. When you settle on a month you need to contact the park staff to make a reservation. There will be a entrance fee for each car to get in the park. Nothing is free anymore.

I still have big cans of chili left from your last 6 speed picnic that didn't happen.

Larry,Nice to hear from you. Its been quite a while. I was planning on heading out there and checking it out once a month was settled on.

Does anyone have an issue with paying for entrance? If not we can stick with this venue. If so we can have more people throw out some ideas. Thats part of the reason I threw this out so far in advance .

Jody, I didn't even notice that you are the "Social Coordinator". Dang it I'm under qualified. I think as it gets closer I may take you up on the offer. I haven't arranged anything of this size before. I figure once we have a date and venue set, we will begin to compile a list of attendees and the dishes or tableware(for the culinarily challenged) to be brought. I hope to be able to get the wheels turning on making things a bit more definite by mid April so that I can contact the park and ensure we can be accommodated.

Sounds great! Let me know when you need help and I'll be happy to do whatever is needed. Also...if you are a social coordinator, you must have your name in PINK.

I'm about 15 mins from the park, so if needed, I can get there early and start setting up as well.

As Larry mentioned, we can make a reservation for a spot. I'm thinking we should ask them if we/they can designate or mark off a spot for all of us to park together as well since it's a "car group" thing. I'm not sure if they will or not. Something towards the backend of far side of the park might be good rather than right in front where everyone and their mama's comes and goes so we don't have to park in the "main" parking area by the beach.

Sounds good Jody. I will probably head out there next weekend and do a little recon and see which area would best be suited for a large group.

Ok I just checked the online Reservation and right now here are the dates available.

Sunday June 26
Sat and Sun July 2-3

August is booked full on all of the weekends. I am leaning towards calling it for the 26th it appears that all the other spots filled up really quick and will continue to. This is for the Creek Picnic Shelter at Lake Sammamish Park. Judging from the sat photos on google maps its towards the back with parking away from everyone and is right on the creek. It can accommodate 200 people, has electrical outlets, 6 covered and 10 outside pic-a-nick tables, is fairly proximal to restrooms and close to the beach.

I am going to book the 26th of June,. In my previously post I said I wanted to hold off until mid April to decide, but it looks like its been decided for us. Let me know A.S.A.P. as I need to drop the deposit and get the place reserved or we will be back at square one.
