Exotics at Redmond Town Center for June 2, 2012

We're keeping and eye on the weather for this Saturday, but it's not looking so good at the moment. We will call it by tomorrow morning. After a week of record-setting attendance at both events, we're expecting to see that momentum remain... but maybe not this Saturday if the weather doesn't improve. NOAA says there is a 50% chance of rain, which means they have a 50% chance of getting it right.

We will make the call on tomorrow right after this morning's weather update around 9AM. Right now, E@RTC looks doubtful, but they keep writing that the weather may improve, so we'll see what's changed in the next few hours.

Not to worry Tommy, most of us are still basking in the glow of the terrific events you guys all helped to put on last weekend. We know we cannot win with the weather all the time.

E@RTC is Cancelled for June 2 due to weather

Exotics@RTC is cancelled for June 2 due to the high probability of rain.

Yea, last week was a lot of fun and we're still worn out so we welcome the weekend off!

Yes, we call it the day before because there is a certain amount of pre-planning that has to be done. If the chance of rain is 30% or higher 24 hours before the event, we call it off. While the parking lot may not have rain above it, it doesn't mean it's not wet or that other cars don't have to drive through rain to get here. I'm in Kirkland where it rained much of the night.

This topic has also been debated to death. We can't go rain or shine without burning out the volunteers. The rain gives us a bit of a break from time to time. We've heard some say the cars do fine in the rain, and that's true but nobody likes standing in it. When weather is marginal, turnout is very low, a fraction of a normal day and it never fails, someone posts that it's a low turnout as if the event's not a success. After having to explain why turnout was low on marginal days, we decided to just call it off so we get a break.

We look at three sites, NOAA, WeatherUnerground, and Weather.com and if it's at 30%, we also look at what the local TV stations are reporting. Yea, sometimes, they get it wrong, and when they do, it's still a nice break for the volunteers who spend hours prepping for the day's event, not to mention the set up of the lots which begins the night before.

Hope to see you all next week!
