After a terrific season opener on the 9th, we may be rained out this coming Saturday. It's too soon to call it, but stay tuned! We just never know.

As we posted, we turned away about 25 cars last Saturday and while we wish we had room for everyone, we still have to prioritize those who most closely fit the definition of "exotic" when we run into space limitations. While there may have been one or two spots open where we could cram in a few more cars, we have to take into account the rare and special that sometimes can't get there on time, so we'll always make that allowance, should that happen, and it did. Once BJ's is open, we should have another lot, even though we've already increased our space beyond our 2012 size. When it's all done, without using the center, we should be able to accommodate close to 300 cars. The center section adds about 80 more spaces. It's hard to believe we've grown that much!

 

Exotics at Redmond Town Center is canceled for March 16 because of the very high probability of rain.

Traditionally we try and call if we're on or off by Thursday morning so that the volunteers and others who have logistics issues can make other plans. Given the chance of rain has increased across the board and on both days surrounding Saturday, we thought it would be safe to cancel now. Hope to see you all again on the 23rd!

 

If there are space problems what is considered an Exotic? Would a 991S Cab (2013) qualify? I would be coming down from Vancouver but if a possibility of not getting in were there (so to speak) I might have to think twice if there were a risk.

Yes, it would certainly qualify. We post a fairly lengthly explanation on our website about what is and isn't an exotic and we do our best to be more inclusive rather than exclusive. When we're pinched for space, we naturally have to lean a little more a narrower definition to make as many people happy as possible.

This is always going to be a balancing act where we try and make the best show possible with what comes out that day. Keep in mind, spectators come to see rare cars. We can't get the truly rare cars without the spectators and those are the cars all of us want to see. Normally we have enough parking so it's not really an issue. I think we turned fewer than five cars away last season and all but one were not even close to being exotic in any way.
