996TT and WA state emissions (question within)
So, I live in an area where emissions testing is not required. My current exhaust is modified and is stock based but cat-less. I'd like to know if anyone could tell me the probability of the car passing the WA state 'plug-in' test in its current form?
I know that the car should be tested when warm and all that good stuff, but my issue is that the car occasionally will throw a CEL for the rear sensors behind the catalytic converters, even with long O2 sensor extenders. If I reset the code with the Durametric, it typically stays off for a long time...and doesn't bother me since I know what it's all about.
So, back to the original question. Is there any good chance of passing the WA state plug-in test for emissions without the cats? Thanks all.

You should be ok as long as you haven't reset your codes recently. Even if it doesn't pass all you are required to do is go to a tuner friendly shop that is certified by the state for emissions repairs and pay them $160 for a piece of paper showing you tried to fix the problem and the state will allow you to pass for another 2 years. I had to do that for my M5 after I went with an Alpha N tune and deletes my secondary cats.
Thank you for the reply Kendall993. I'm curious why a recent reset of the codes would matter though? Can their method of scanning determine the last time of reset or something?
Your ECU/DME will show not ready to read until you have driven for a certain mileage after reset. I had that problem with our Q7. I had it at Barrier Audi for service and then went over to get the emissions test done and it wouldn't pass. Inhad to drive it for at least 60 miles at hwy speeds before the computer could be read.
