my '98 Supra 6sp - a few pictures
I've owned this car for a while and haven't bothered to post any pictures. After seeing a couple threads from others, I decided I should post a few pictures and a couple details.
stats:
1998 Supra TT 6sp (original, not swapped)
51k miles, black on tan, etc
-WOTM76GTS turbo kit, compressor housing is polished, Exhaust housing is silver ceramic coated. A/R .81 and turbo is DBB
-Titan Fuel System with 1000cc injectors twin pumps, Aeromotive Regulator and filter
-Virtual Works Intake Manifold
-Wilson 105mm Throttle Body
-HKS 272's and BC titanium retainers and springs
-WOTM single puck AZ clutch, Stock Toyota flywheel (1500 miles)
-Fluidyne radiator
-Greddy 3-row IC with custom 4" cold and 3" hot side piping.
-Tial 44mm WG and Tial BOV
-AEM EMS
-DEFI boost gauge and link module
-B&M short shifter with aluminum fork bushings
-Unorthodox Adj. cam gears
-FJO wideband with circle gauge
-Stock: bottom end, rear end/ axles/ and DS.
-Black T4 turbo blanket
-The battery has been relocated to the truck, also installed main power breaker and individual fuel pump fuses.
-Stock 17" chromes with 295/45R17 ET Streets.
-Fikse FM5's with 265 and 315 Falken's
Sadly, I never use the car as a toy, let alone drive it like it should be driven. I've put under 700 miles on it since I picked it up on 4 July 2011. It barely left the garage for TX2K12 and I was nervous the entire time it was in the Frankenstein parking lot...
The first series of pics are from the previous owner. His girlfriend was/is a photographer. The last few (with the Fikse's) are my poor attempts at photography...

Thanks, B.K. This is truly the cleanest (and fastest) thing I've ever owned. I've always wanted a low-mile '98 singled Supra, but I feel this phase my be past me. I've inquired with a few people to see if they were interested. I want a toy, but 800hp isn't required anymore...
I couldn't agree more, Cue. I'd accept an different front lip and the TRD wing, but Supras are one of the only cars that just 'look perfect' [to me.] I realize it's subjective, but I tend to say a few choice words when some mutilates a perfectly stock-bodied Supra with a gaudy body-kit. I'm not even that much of a fan of the TRD widebody, but to each his/her own. I'm a HUGE hardtop C5 fan, but even they look better with the Tigershark front fascia and rear bumper. To me, the MKIV supra needs window tint and maybe different wheels if budget allows. Otherwise, leave it be...

i like the oe rims, there is something about them so japanese.
they are bling but understated like the car, i like my volks just a tad more.
its so easy to junk up a supra, it really shows the design thinking again, so japanese
it just needs whats there and nothing else. forward design and timeless at the same

Thanks again. I've done my best to make sure it stays as one of the nicest '98s remaining.
I have another Supra I'd like to buy. However, I refuse to have two cars I don't drive. Thus, if someone has a spare $45k and they'd like a very clean '98, this is officially for sale. The window to buy this is short, however. The other car will potentially go to another buyer within a week. So, if you'd like this one... act now.

Rn,
Thanks for the compliments. This really is the nicest car I've ever owned and it's hard to explain my reasons. It's mostly automotive A.D.D. I tend to always assume 'the grass is greener' and move on to something else, but I certainly have a pattern. I've gone from '99 C5 FRC -> '98 Supra -> '99 C5 FRC -> '98 Supra. I love both platforms, but I can easily say this is the most 'solid' feeling car I've ever had. Hell, it STILL rivals newer cars I've driven (German, Japanese included, etc) as far as build quality, feel, etc. Looks are subjective, but I consider the Supra to be much better looking that MOST of the current offerings. I STILL tend to like the '99-00 C5 FRC better than the C6's (even the Z06 as far as aesthetics.) Regardless, I'm quite certain I won't find another this clean with these mods for similar money. That's really what's driving me to hold onto it. A very clean '98, 6sp, low miles, with great mods (without going completely over the top) is exactly what I wanted.
Second, access. My new building is going up MUCH slower than expected and I have the '98 and my Duramax CRAMMED into a small, 2-car garage (and we park the daily-drivers in front of the door.) Thus, to get the Supra out I need to move two daily-drivers, the truck, and then the Supra. It's quite a production. Once the new building is built and the '98 is more accessible, I certainly hope to use it more often. Soon enough I'll have it completed
Third, power. I never thought I'd say this, but I don't need 800hp. I genuinely don't use it and the tires on the car now definitely indicate this. The Falken's don't hook well unless you're going 60mph+ (in summer heat, forget about cold roads) and I'm not THAT into speed anymore. If I hang on to it, I'm VERY likely to find a smaller turbo, something like a 6265, the new 6466, or even a 6165 in order to create a VERY quick spooling car which makes about 500rw on pump gas. Frankly, that's all the power I'll ever need.
Fourth, you mentioned color. I LOVE black cars. The majority of my toy cars have been black since I started this hobby WAY far too long ago. I'm not saying I'm looking for a change, but I wouldn't have hesitated for a second when the last '97-'98 RSP was listed if I didn't have my '98. I refused to have two in the garage as I knew I would have the same mindset on the '98 (still having trouble letting go.) However, if the black '98 doesn’t move often, the '97-98 RSP might as well be located in my spare bedroom. I'm quite certain I would have never moved that car based on how rare they are and how beautiful the color is in person. I'd put the car in the house, install some skylights, stare at the paint in the sunlight for a while, close the blinds, repeat the next day.
Sorry for the lengthy reply.

Very cool assessment man, in the end you have to do what makes you 100% happy and satisfied. You have to be honest in answering the questions you ask yourself like "how would I feel if I didn't have this car anymore,etc..?"
I had a pewter C5 with comp grey C6 wheels and I can relate to your affinity towards the FRC, they have an aggressive edgy look.
My Anthracite has 48k original miles and it is 'my' favorite Supra so I plan on never letting it go as it also has a huge nostalgia factor for me. I had a ton of different daily drivers but always had a Supra. I'm actually looking to step up to a Porsche C4 for daily eventually.
Quick question, have you ever driven an EVO? I had an 8 with stock turbo and 272's but lemme tell you, that thing was one of the most fun cars I've ever driven, it has a video game type 'direct to road' feel and the spool is insane.
