First off Hi everybody

I am currently the owner of a 2011 Subaru impreza outback sport and am thinking about doing some upgrades to my car. However I know what upgrades there are to be done but my question comes down to what should I do first? And a turbo is not on the books at the moment. Any and all suggestions would be helpful thank you

I'm a big Subaru guy so I can help you out here.

The standard list of upgrades for your car are:
1. Turboback exhaust
2. ECU tune - several choices here, but the easiest is a Cobb Accessport.
3. Upgraded wheels and tires - '04 STi BBS wheels are the right bolt pattern, very light and strong. Other year STI wheels are a different bolt pattern. There are many other options of which the best would be an Enkei RPF 01. Stick with 17" size too with a 225 width tire.
4. Short shifter - Kartboy
5. Upgraded sway bars - Eibach, Cobb, several other choices
6. Strut tower bars - Cheap pink/silver ebay ones for $70 shipped are the best choice.

Do not do the following:
1. Turbo timer - Not necessary due to water cooled turbo.
2. Big wheels and tires - Look bad and add too much weight.
3. Blow Off Valve (BOV) - Subaru engines HATE these and it can seriously damage your engine
4. Run an exhaust without a tune - Again very bad for the engine

That's a good start for you.

Hello,

Teflon_jones is exactly right. The do's and don'ts.

From owning a couple of subaru's myself and modding them all, it depends on what your looking for in terms of mods. Squeezing out power from a n/a subaru is hard because any gains, if any, will be small and usually not being worth it in the end.

simple things which I do suggest is suspension/handling. Subaru's do like to be thrown around turns and having the equipment to support that is crucial. Alot of wrx/sti parts do interchange with other subarus as well so if nothing says 2011, dont be too worried yet.

The pitch stop mount/dog bone is an important yet very easy mod, changing the mount which connects the tranny to the firewall, with a solid mount will help with a couple of things.

Dry air filters help a little, the oil'ed ones, most subaru MAF's will have a problem with them. Maybe not immediately, but down the road they could.

Let me know if you have any questions.
