The more compliant suspension settings that made their debut earlier this month when the 2011 Porsche Panamera V6 went on sale will soon be phased in for the entire 2011 Panamera lineup—Panamera S and Panamera Turbo models included.

Based on remarks from company officials, Porsche retuned the Panamera and Panamera 4 V-6 models for their slightly lighter weight and slightly better weight distribution—and then apparently liked the results as applied back to the V-8 models.

As we reported in our First Drive of the V-6-powered 2011 Porsche Panamera and Panamera 4 models last week, the rather light curb weight of these models makes them feel surprisingly responsive and nimble.

The slightly softer calibration improves ride comfort without any negative effect on handling ability or poise to the other Panameras, said company officials.

Standard on the Panamera is a suspension setup that employs steel spring-struts paired with aluminum double wishbones in front, combines with an aluminum multi-link setup in back. The available Adaptive Air Suspension (PASM) self-levels and adjusts vehicle height, and works with the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) system, which also uses hydraulically stiffening components to moderate body roll in corners yet disconnect for more comfort on bumpy surfaces.

 

Yep, 2nd year of production and the options catalog are starting to open up...
