Factory Multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters
I thought I explained it already. The wheel in the pic I shot of the computer image is not that of a real steering wheel but rather is a computer glitch by the Porsche configurator. The wheel everyone really wants exists only with the Techart or Champion modification.
I got the Option 840 3-spk Sport SW w/Shift Paddles on my panamera and love the ability to have “real” paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The only thing that sucks is there are no multifunction buttons. It is very distracting to have to remove my hand from the wheel and eyes from the road to make phone calls or change the XM station on the touch display on the center dash.
I’m new to Porsche…coming from a merc cls550 w/amg paddle shifters. I took the multifunction buttons for granted on the cls. Not sure if I made the right choice by choosing SW w/paddles and no buttons.
So think hard before choosing Option 840 3-spk Sport SW w/Shift Paddles or wait till they come out with one with multi buttons.

PDK sport steering wheel
Hey doncamero,
I`m an Australian engineer living in France.
A 997s pdk owner. I recently read your post. It said you were going to replace your stock pdk sport wheel with an aftermarket wheel. I wonder did you go ahead and if your old wheel is perhaps available ? (assuming its black)
cheers

After hving my panny for almost 5 months, i find the multifunction wheels to be very useful. I kinna lika the buttons to shift gear. Unless u plan to track the car a lot, i think the multi function wheel is my choice on a panny.
Well, depending on ur purpose. If on a daily base, multifunction wheel is much more handy than the 3 spokes one. I have the 3 spokes with shifter and I sometime find it irritating to keep staring at the center console. However, the 3 spokes one looks much better and the shifter is much more refined.
